There's no lore to ignore, though. The Daleks didn't say Exterminate over and over for a pre-established reason; it was just the thing that they did. The "reason" in this episode answers a question that nobody asked, but didn't disrupt the idea of a Dalek at all, really. The Mercy retcon is a "huh, interesting" not a "This ruined Daleks for me" thing

Thatโs what breaking the established lore means. This is why series 9 is awful. It retcons lore thatโs been established lore for decades!

It's not really ignoring lore more as The Doctor going "Huh, I've never thought about this before". It's a retcon, sure, but It's an interesting concept that The Doctor is the reason that these hate-machines have a concept of mercy

Moffat will ignore lore for his stories. Dalek has always been able to talk normally. They just happen to be dicks. The limit for their speech is for that episode alone.

I think the Dalek that River faced was able to ask for mercy because of what the Doctor did in this episode. Also, I love Missy's theme at the end!

The doctor grabbed the cables rather than davros directly because he knew what davro's plan was and how to stop it.

I love that final shot of the Doctor and young Davros walking hand in hand, Davros carrying the Doctors screwdriver and the Doctor carrying a Dalek gun.
I like how Eric seems to remember a lot more about the show than Aaron does, and Aaron is supposed to be the guide.
