Scenes from a Casual Dining Restaurant: Part 2

This is a ver different style than what I usual write which made it a fun challenge, but the challenge also made me take a lot longer with this especially when combined with work stress.
There are more parts to come.

Judith pretended to be bussing something from an empty, unused table just so she could lean in and eavesdrop on the two seemingly mismatched customers in their meet cute.
“You’re Martha, right?” said the butch rocker chick as she leaned forward toward the mousier woman who looked like she was either a teacher or librarian and also like a deer caught in the headlights.
“Y-yes.” stuttered Martha as her head listed to the side so she could get a clear look at the goth rocker’s combat boots.
Judith could have sworn that out of the corner of her eye she watched Martha bite her lower lip, but her contemplation was broken by the sound of the place settings moving from the rocker girl slamming her hands on the table.
“Excellent. Would’ve hated to get here coming on so strong to the wrong girl, though you’d be cute either way. Knew it was you. You look just like your pictures.”
“Thanks… so do you. Sabrina, right?”
“Yeah yeah yeah. Actually, this piercing is new,” Sabrina said, sticking her face closer to Martha and pointing directly at the shiny new stud sticking out of her right nostril.
“But it’s pretty small. I wouldn’t expect you to notice that.”
Judith left Sabrina and Martha to their unimportant small talk while she went to get them their cheese fries and drinks.
As the loaded cheese fries hit the table, Judith couldn’t deny that she wanted a bite for herself, but she left that thought alone and went to grab another round of drinks for the couple.
The loaded cheese fries were smothered in brown gravy and ranch dressing and covered in cheddar and muenster cheese along with chili, and bacon with chives and a dollop of sour cream. They were a heart attack in a bowl, a fit to be a meal in and of itself, and yet here it was sitting in front of these two thin women waiting to be consumed as just the first course.
“You like the look of those cheese fries?” Sabrina said with a sly smile as her fingers rapped against the table as she waited for Martha to make the first move.
“Interesting choice for a first date,” replied Maertha with a conservatively coquettish smile of her own.
Sabrina leaned forward, and her deep sultry voice dipped lower as if she had an incredible secret.
“You know why I like to go with loaded cheese fries? It tells me a lot about a girl.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. Tells me if they’re not afraid to get messy.”
Sabrina continued to smile slyly with anticipation as Martha quietly unfolded her cutlery and set the napkin on her lap. There was a moment of hesitation as Martha looked between her fork and the greasy spectacle before her and dug in.
“Tells me they’re not afraid to eat,” Sabrina crowed as she watched Martha shove a large forkful of cheese and gravy-covered french fries into her mouth. Little bits of bacon crumbles fell to the table, and Sabrian picked them up and ate them, setting them on her tongue for Martha to see before swallowing.
“I like that in a girl,” chuckled Sabrina softly as she watched Martha take a second bite.
Martha set her fork down and gently patted the sides of her mouth with her napkin taking care of any errant gravy or ranch dressing before motioning toward the rest of the loaded cheese fries.
“Are you going to eat?”
“Of course. I don’t mind a little mess.”
Sabrina pulled off several of the still crunchy fries and shoved them into her mouth without care to the grease getting on her fingers.
“And these are fucking great,” she said as she took a second, larger handful of fries.
“They’re quite good. Yes.”
Martha gave a small nod of approval and smiled as she watched Sabrina continue to go back for more.
As the evening progressed, the abundance of loaded cheese fries was whittled down to just an empty serving vessel, and with greased stained paper lining the bottom, and both women has shared a basically equal amount with Sabrina perhaps having edged Martha out slightly.
As if to make up for that, Martha was now working her way through some well buttered bread as Sabrina polished off her second whiskey.
“This is good bread.”
“Yeah. It is,” replied Sabrina as she picked up a piece of bread to signal Martha that she was not alone in eating it.
“Crusty, but soft inside. Just the way I like it.”
Crumbs tumbled from Martha’s mouth as she winked at Sabrina.

“You’re cute,” chuckled Sabrina.

“Thank you.”
As Sabrina set her empty whiskey glass down, she looked over at Martha’s half empty glass of water, her second for the night.
“You don’t drink much. Do you?”
Martha shook her head.
“I don’t drink at all.”
“Not even beer?”
Martha’s face flushed, not from the question but from the answer that was teasing her tongue.
“Drinking beer gives you a beer belly,” she said with almost a whisper.
“Does it?”
The hair on Martha’s neck stood up, and her only response was a coquettish nod.
“Maybe I should try it then.”
“Maybe you should.”
“Do you dare me to?”
“Yes.”
“Say it.”
“I dare you to get a beer.”
“But what if I get a beer belly?”
For a moment, Martha’s breath caught in her throat.
“So be it,” she finally managed to get out.
“You are a minx, a secret little minx,” Sabrina practically purred.
“And you’re getting a beer.”
“And getting you more bread.”
The two frantically signaled for Judith to take their beer and bread order. As they settled down into their next course, with Sabrina getting them a second order of regular fries this time, they chatted about a series of small things as one does. It was easy conversation that made for good snacking to pass the time before they decided to get into the serious eating. By the time they were ordering their main course, both women were sporting bloated food babies but showing no sign of slowing down.
Sabrina decided this was her time to show off.
“I’ll have a t-bone with the loaded baked potato and a side of creamed corn.”
“I’ll have the same,” replied Martha in an instant, unwilling to be shown up.
“Oh, you think you can handle keeping pace with me,” teased Sabrina.
“I like my chances.”
“I don’t think you’re ready for this. I’m gonna smoke you.”
“Unlikely. Your belly is full of beer.”
“My belly has plenty of room. Yours is full of bread,” said Sabrina as she gave her stomach a hearty pat.
“I’ll be fine,” replied Martha while patting her own.
“How do you know?”
Martha smiled with pride.
“I’m a steak and potatoes kind of girl.”
“You better be careful.”
“Or what?” Martha asked even though she already knew the answer.
“You know,” teased Sabrina.
The two could feel the heat between them. They could sense it growing just beneath their bloated bellies, and as Martha tried to reply, her breath caught in her throat and left Sabrina to finish the thought for her.
“You’ll get fat.”
“Will I?” Martha asked as she gently touched her hand to her lips in mock surprise.
“Yeah. You will.”
“I don’t think so.”
“Yeah?”
“I’ve got a great metabolism.”
Sabrina picked up one of the few remaining french fries.
“Not if you keep eating like this,” she said as she deftly snapped it in half between her teeth.
“I could say the same to you.”
“So say it,” said Sabrina as she gripped the edges of the table.
Martha’s voice dipped to a barely audible but husky whisper that forced Sabrina to lean across the table to hear it.
“You’re going to get fat.”
Sabrina practically threw herself back into her chair and nearly send herself end over end.
“I’m gonna get fat?” Sabrina loudly proclaimed now that it was her turn to engage in mock outrage.
That’s when the main courses hit the table and the two women attacked their plates with gusto, tearing into their steaks with the fury of wild animals. As they tore, and chewed, and stuffed their faces with potato, they couldn’t keep their eyes off of each other. For a while, there were no words, just relentless eating and lustful eye contact until their plates were mostly empty and both of them were left leaning back and rubbing their taut bellies.
“You’re going to get fat. You’re going to get a big fat beer belly.” Martha proclaimed as she was trying not to let Sabrina catch on to her near panting.
And then they were off to the races.
“You’re gonna get a fat ass.”
“You’re going to get thunder thighs.”
“And you’re gonna get huge fat tits.”
Martha’s fork dropped and the proceeding silence was deafening. It hung thick in the air.
“What?” asked Sabrina with her mouth open and a bit of potato still in her cheek.
“That was crass.”
“We were just-”
Martha slammed her hands on the table and pushed her chair back as if to leave at any moment.
“That was too far.”
“I mean you were talking about me getting fa-”
“But you were rude.”
“Rude?”
“Rude.”
“How was I rude?”
“Talking about my breasts.” Martha’s hand instinctively covered her modest chest.
“That’s rude?” asked with a gasp of exasperation and a raised eyebrow.
“Of course.”
“Talking about your breasts is rude, but talking about my thighs isn’t?” Sabrina sneered.
“Of course not.”
“What do you think’s between my thighs?”
“Rude! Rude!”
“Come on. Don’t lie to me. You know you were thinking about spreading my thighs when you mentioned how fat they’re gonna get.”
Martha pressed herself up from the table, struggling with her stomach bloated like a pregnant woman. It was a rather comical sight to see her food baby straining otherwise conservative sweater as she tried her best to let her indignation win the day.
“I’m done. Goodnight.”
“Done?”
Sabrina was left totally stunned for a moment. Luckily, in an uncommonly polite move for someone in her position, Martha had decided to push in her chair before storming out. This momentary delay gave Sabrina just enough time to formulate her eloquent response.
“Wait.”
“No.”
Not wanting to risk being rude and cutting Martha off from an exit, Sabrina instead chased her around the table.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Please. Come on. Come on. I’m sorry. Please. Sit. Let’s… let’s have dessert?”
“Dessert?” asked with a raised eyebrow, her mind intrigued by the possibility of a delicious chocolate moose but wary of any of Sabrina’s additional intentions. Sabrina, picking up on this, raised her hands in peaceful deference.
“Just actual dessert. It’d be a shame to have all this great food and not finish with dessert.”
Martha’s tongue ran along her lower lip.
“Dessert is dangerous,” she moaned.
With a sly smile, Sabrina slinked back into her seat and gestured for Martha to join her.
Martha ran her delicate fingers along the back of her chair as her other hand pinched at her thigh.
“Yes. Yes it is. Deliciously dangerous.”
Sabrina’s feet were tapping on the floor as she gripped the edge of her seat.
“You know what they say.”
“A moment on the lips,” said Martha as she sat back down.
“A lifetime on the hips.”
“So…. dessert?” ask Martha with a smile.
“Dessert,” replied Sabrina with a wink as she went to flag down their waitress.
Judith was ecstatic. This evening was going swimmingly. Even with Brenda and Eddie up to their usual bullshit bickering back and forth, her other tables were all going very well. Jake and Alex and the mismatched lesbian couple in particular had combined to order a massive amount of very expensive food, and Judtih felt extremely confident that she was already heading toward making good money in tips tonight.
She had Jake and Alexa’s extravagant dessert order right now, and that alone was going to send their bill to a price that any vaguely reasonable percentage would make for a good tip.
The fat couple couldn’t decide on what kind of pie ala mode they would have, so they each ordered their own pie- not by the slice, but by the pie- Boston cream for him, cherry for her, and for the ala mode part, they each got their own three scoop banana split sundaes with the works. It was a precariously heavy thing, but all Judith could think about was all the money it was going to make her.
All she needed to do was get past Brenda and Eddie’s table.
“Well just do something with you life, Eddie! Just fucking do something!”
“Fuck you, Brenda, you bitch!”
Eddie suddenly thrust himself up from the table and into Judith who was still distracted by dollar signs. His muscular frame sent her off balance just enough for the tray to finish the job. The contents of the tray shifted and so that the first half of the tray’s contents turned it into a comical catapult for the second half. This sudden shift sent Judith tumbling and what was left of the tray flying.
And everything came crashing down on-
“AHHHH!!!!” Martha screamed as she was freshly covered in ice cream and cherry pie.
Sabrina was no better off with chocolate cream pie running down her back. And with that their date came to a rapid end capped by lots of screaming.
Judith, having landed hard on the floor, held her head in her hands. What a disastrous turn of events. She could see it all, no tips, at least one full comp and none of it her fault. And Valentine’s Day was supposed to be one of her best nights.
But still she tried to stay positive. There would still be tables, and if she ended up sticking around, she could always try for a bigger Valentine’s Day next year.
