Great movie! Watched it couple of times already but was glad to watch it once again. Was glad to learn that Rob is such a fan of the original movie. Regarding why US was out-teched here - they gave a brief explanation during mission planning saying that area is GPS jammed and that's why their latest F-35 jets are not an option and they have to use older tech with laser guided bombs.

This movie holds a great place in my heart. Top Gun was one of my favorites as a kid. In the first movie Maverick talked about the admirals daughter that he got in trouble for.. Penny. lol. The plane in the end is owned and flown by Tom. Beautiful antique.

Also realized fanboy was in Falcon and Winter Soldier, the Soldier with Falcon at the start and introduced him to the info of Karli's group

Me too 💜💜

Beware The Jabberwock

❤️🥺 I really hope that was on purpose - with “Labyrinth” in mind.

I just realized whose song was playing at the bar when Jennifer Connely first appeared 😱💜💜

Thank you for this, Rob and Trin!

This movie is way better than it has any business being, particularly given the track record of legacy sequels. It has just the right amount of respect for the original, yet also holds up on its own as a great watch. BTW, Manny Jacinto (Jason Mendoza from The Good Place) is one of the other pilots in training...he's in the background in some shots...didn't even realize he was even in this.

Thanks for a great reaction to this amazing movie! I just love it! Fell in love with Top Gun as a 13 year old and have seen it hundreds of times. I think it’s so funny they gave Penny Benjamin (”the admiral’s daughter”) a role in this one. If you know you know 🛫 Also the music is iconic.

yes! what an awesome surprise!

Great reaction, we have rewatched this so many times, anytime. We really can't be bothered. Looking for something to watch. It's quite common that we put this on

Colour blind unite! As long as we're the last ones standing

You should check out some of the behind the scenes footage . It was so epic in theaters 🔥

Christine

This was phenomenal! So many great moments. Thank you guys for the movie surprise. I'm so glad you enjoyed it too!

Yessss so happy to see you doing this movie finally one of my favs

Echoes Of Malachor

great sequel. I think you got it by the end of the movie but the technological advancement of the enemy was just the 5th gen's vs the f-18. The US still has the f35 and f22 5th gens. And the maneuver the enemy 5th gen performed is realistic but not to avoid missile fire. The plane would have been toast because it basically erased all the plane's angular velocity and made it a stationary target. Still makes for a great cinematic shot though.

I was so happy to see that they had given a part to Val Kilmer, he is really sick in real life, throat cancer, so to give him a roll in this movie was it awesome

Omg omg omg got new plans for tonight :) 😂

Beware The Jabberwock

The plane in the hanger that Maverick works on and flies in the end with Penny, is actually Tom’s own plane. 😉

Jan T

Yes, Lewis Pullman who played Bob is Bill Pullman’s son. 🙂

Beware The Jabberwock

I did read that they couldn’t have used our 5th gen fighters because they are single seaters - and there would have been no way to get the inside cockpit shots, making it look like the actors were truly flying. It also makes us look like the underdogs and gives off a “we can still kick ass with inferior jets” vibe. (There was also a rumor that the military didn’t want high definition footage of the inside and outside our best planes on film — but again that is just a rumor. 😉)

pure cinema! I love this movie. the first one is still as great as ever to

OMG. I gave up on this movie because it never got anywhere in the polls and when I saw this surprise tonight, I changed my plans just so I could sit here and watch it with you! I am soooo happy! I can watch this movie over and over and not get tired of it! You two made my night! LOL

Farva

The 5th gen fighters used in the movie are SU-57 Felons, which are Russian, even though the enemy is not Russian in the movie. They could've just had a single F-22 come in, and do the job no problem, or a B-2 could've just dropped a bomb on the target, but I guess that doesn't make as good a movie, lol. Not dissing this movie at all by the way, still freakin love it, and a nice end of month surprise!

Beware The Jabberwock

Had to pause to say - I LOVE how hype Rob was even before the opening credits ended. ❤️❤️❤️

Jan T

Thank you! A remarkable sequel. Great action, yes, but It also had real emotional weight because even with 36 years between films, they kept Goose’s memory central to the story. Excellent performances all around. An instant classic!

Great surprise. Thanks! Keep doing your picks. Of course, Patreon polls reflect what the people who pay the subscription want to see, but that also means you miss many great movies. The way you guys have been doing it - half polls, half own picks is great. This is an obvious comment but just wanted to post a reminder that you guys are awesome.
