The army’s pivot to the indo, pacific, the airforces drone program, the doubling of the size of the surface fleet and of course AUKUS. If you’re interested Perun, I have a few colleagues who would be very interested in understanding the combat casualty pipeline, both generally and specifically in Ukraine as an example. Follow a casualty from wounding somewhere on the front line all the way back through the various stages of the system. Interface between the very military health element near the fighting, to the eventual handover to the civilian health system in the back end. Limfacs, risks, chokepoints, etc.

I think it can go on for the full hour given how many and wildly different initiatives there are. The hard part is collecting them, what they've done, and what their impact has been. More importantly perhaps from defense economics is what gaps they filled and how those gaps were missed by the big boys.

Minor detail, but "spend their pledged 2%" is a less misleading wording. It was only a recommendation until last year also, but they now have pledged to reach that.

Ukraine and Palestine have been conflicts which have also had large civilian impacts, and a great deal of aid being asked for (charity and government), purchased, and deployed to varying success. Is there any chance you could do a video, similar to weapon acquisition and deployment to a battlefield, of aid to a battlefield?

I have a question regarding Ukraine that might be good: "what material inputs does Ukraine need broadly to win?" I know that the definition of winning is vague, but what would the monthly/yearly input levels of stuff like ammo, vehicles, aircraft, manpower have to be to do that, roughly. If it's too much then no worries, but I am curious how much we know about it and there doesn't exactly seem to be a plan for me to look at.

The current and potential role of China in the Ukraine invasion. Is China only interested as long as Putin appears to be winning, but won't back him if the tide turns? Do the Chinese see Russia as a true partner in the new world power struggle, or just as a convenient ally for now? Does China really want world dominance and a new cold war with the west, or will it settle for a major sphere of influence, with the west as equal partners/foes?

I think this is a GREAT question, but too wrapped up in personal opinions and perspectives to make a precise answer possible. (I really like alliteration alot). Personally, I think you can get closer to war by being too hawkish OR too dovish, but it is largely dependent upon you and your opponent GUESSING what each other will do and what each other's motivations truly are. Highly speculative and laced with lots of intentional BS.

Some of the topics I would love to see covered (if you feel up to it) are: 1) The propaganda/disinformation war (both obvious and subtle); 2) the contrast in creation of trenches/fortifications on both sides and how it is affected by politics, technology, manpower, etc (possibly talking with Jesse Alexander et al to compare to WW1); and 3) the varying (apparently) perspectives on the conflict by different cultural and age groups - especially in Ukraine

Ukraine has hit long-range early-warning Voronezh-M radars inside Russia at Armavir and Orsk, and Voronezh-DM in Krasnodar. I'd like to see a video on why. The radar at Orsk, in particular, doesn't seem to cover any airspace that Ukraine could feasibly use for anything. Russian commentators have pointed out that according to Russia's nuclear deterrence posture paper, this should trigger a nuclear retaliation. But nobody on a widely read official channel has said that. All by itself, that's interesting. One theory is that by targeting Russian nuclear deterrence assets, Ukraine is demonstrating that Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons should those assets be touched are hollow. Ukraine would presumably want to demonstrate those threats are hollow in order to encourage western countries to help out in ways that Russia has also said would trigger a nuclear response. The interesting thing, to my mind, is that by showing a nuclear deterrent as hollow, Ukraine is questioning the entire idea of nuclear deterrence. That's an incredibly risky move, maybe last tried during the Cuban Missile Crisis. But if its successful, it might reduce our reliance on MAD and potentially open the way toward partial nuclear arsenal reductions. So, I'd like Perun's read. What is Ukraine actually doing and what are the broader implications?

This would spite the US, as the allies help to subsidise US production, but I don't think Trump would care about that. If this scenario were to occur, the Western allies would never again be able to rely on US, even if a more pragmatic president were later elected.

Maybe if you wanted a shorter topic to cover one week. I would be interested in civilian crowdfunding in the current conflicts in Ukraine, Israel and I'm sure elsewhere. Things like World Food Kitchen, Médecins Sans Frontières, even NAFO and individual crowdfunding people on Twitter or TicTok, Ryan McBeth, Artur Rehi, and I'm sure many others. And is it useful or just good headlines. There have been posts how the people in some Eastern European countries raised enough to buy Ukraine multiple Bayraktar drones, or Jake Broe's NAFO fundraiser that has topped over a million dollars inside a week.

Over the duration of the full-scale war many have looked at the stances taken by the USA and other allied nations to ongoing events. I think it would be interesting given various developments to look into China's involvement in this conflict and how it fits into their wider geopolitical ambitions.
