Fantastic breakdown on interceptor drones — I really appreciate how you cut through the hype and focus on their actual battlefield impact, the various places within the depth of magazine. One angle worth adding is the intellectual property side. While Ukraine is rightly prioritizing survival over patents, there’s real innovation happening — some of it likely patentable. This is, after all, the land of Sikorsky and Antonov. Their legacy lives on in today’s engineers developing loitering ISR or building quadcopters that haul 2,000-pounders. Or working on it. Of course, IP takes a back seat when you’re trying to shoot down the one poaching your drone tech. Suing him on top is unnecessary. But once the conflict ends, and an export market for drones emerges, the patent landscape will start to matter again. In countermeasure tech especially, co-dependent patent structures often emerge. So it’s not entirely far-fetched to imagine former adversaries cross-marketing drone systems at future arms expos. OK, maybe that’s a stretch. On a related note, I’m working on a project that intersects with some of these themes: an online game concept loosely centered on quadcopters, with core mechanics shaped by the needs — and to the specific benefit — of some very real actors in today’s geopolitical landscape. I’d really value your opinion. And while I appreciate your background as a gamer, it’s your geopolitical lens I’m especially interested in. I’m looking for perspective, not endorsement.
