Talk about tragedy got me thinking about my best friend. Everything that makes him so aspirational, driven and amicable stems from losing his mum to cancer at age 15. That formative tragedy was so traumatic that he felt the need to completely distance himself from the person he was. He started with Alan Watts videos and going to the gym after school. Years later, he's the best person I know.
