Yeah didn't really explain much to me, so does the New Atha area have many dungeons and how do adventurers get to clear them for EXP?" I asked Isha as we worked to make a hearty soup of locally grown vegetables and some chicken we were slowly cooking atop the wood stove.
Isha raised an eyebrow in interest at my questions and she bluntly asked. "Are you really so sheltered? How do you not know these things?"
There was a moment of silence before I finally answered. "I don't know. Because I was literally summoned to this world this morning." I said with a weak smile.
At my answer, she paused... Visibly froze in place before looking over at me and seeing my weak smile she took a breath. "That makes so much sense... Any other adventurer would have killed the unregistered dungeon to get the easy title without the Guild and New Atha stringing them up." She said shaking her head with amusement before turning back to the food.
"Well to start off... All dungeons are state assets of New Atha, they can be claimed by a large organization, but New Atha will have agents come to check up on it at times. Anyway, once you go up from Wood rank of an adventurer up two more ranks to Copper Rank. You and a party of adventurers at a similar rank can apply to be allowed to clear a dungeon depending on the level of the dungeon." She explained patiently while I took in the information.
"Copper Ranked adventurers are only sent into dungeons that are registered between the levels of 1-15. As most adventurers rank up doing chore quests rather than combat missions to start off... Anyway, the more you rank up your adventurer rank, or if you have to pull in the government. You can use the low-ranked dungeons used to train soldiers." She ended off with a sigh making me look at her.
"Was a soldier before... A good one at that. But after a dungeon break, I lost a leg, and although it got reattached." She shrugged. "Reattched limbs without divine magic never really heal that well."
With that, I wrapped an arm around Isha's side to give her a quick side hug making her huff in amusement. "So, any other questions for info... You need?" She asked while hip-bumping me as I watched her continue to cook after I finished prepping the food to be thrown into the pot.
After a moment of thought, I finally spoke with a small flush. "Sooo... When I got summoned into New Atha, I was told and hinted pretty heavily to get a slave. What's up with that?"
She blinked and I heard her chuckle under her breath as she shook her head with her taking a breath before she spoke. "Ah... A slave is a privilege in this world, they are trained from a young age, or having given up on life, are purged of former memories and are turned to worship and loyalty to a master." She chewed on her words before speaking again. "The Holy Church of the Light Goddess, is in charge of training the slaves, even though they typically trade them to trusted merchants who put them up for sale and make sure they reach a decent master."
Isha finished her monologue and smiled wryly as she gave me my own side hug. "In either case, for a 'Hero' summoned into this world, I would say go for it. I have seen many an adventurer party literally tear one another apart for a rare dungeon drop. With a slave, such issues won't happen... To say nothing of how having someone who adores you down to their very soul would solve many other issues."
Just as I was about to say something, Isha continued. "And for Adventurers and Hero's, slaves have one extra massive bonus." She spoke making me raise an eyebrow as she took a sip of the broth to taste. "Normally in a party, there is an experience split for combat and supportive roles in a party to help people who buff or heal others still level up. But slaves EXP don't take away from the master's experience, the Goddess of Light has made it so the Master and Slave in harmony, grow together without loss."
'So the goddess of light is a major sub, and probably has an enslavement fetish... The reasons for this world running on some form of porn logic now makes a lot more sense.' I thought blankly as Isha turned and gave me a wide smile.
"Any other questions?" She asked kindly.
After a moment of thought I nodded as there was just one last thing on my mind that I was missing. "Uhm what about titles? I don't have a tag for titles in my status even as the so-called Chosen One or whatever." I said with a joking hint making Isha snort.
"Yeah, Jake... You are definitely someone summoned here, though for the life of me. I cannot understand why if you are the 'Chosen One' why you don't have a minder or guide." She shook her head as she dropped down the cooking implements and then she wrapped an arm around my shoulder as she spoke. "Let's go back to the living room and I can tell you about titles." She said.
Once we got seated on the couch together Isha and I took a drink of tea before Isha briefly explained what titles are. "Titles are something you have to earn Jake. Being born, or walking across the city or countryside isn't worth a title... You basically have to do a pretty great or big deed, either good or terrible to earn a title." Isha took a breath before finishing off the explanation with a simple. "And the title you receive can increase your stat potential allowing your future level-ups to be stronger, or in a certain situation increase your stat points a certain percentage."
With that, I didn't really have any pressing questions as I could tell Isha was getting tired of monologuing so I instead asked how her duties as the town's guardian was going.
"Hmm... Pretty well, all things told. Sure some Alpha Gators crawl up the banks and sniff around the town walls, but a good explosive-tipped arrow will send it running back to the river. It's only during the night on full moons when Mermen come out of the water from way downstream at the bay and try to steal women to drown and use as carriers for their seed that things become an issue." She said with zero emotion in her voice and I shuddered at the thought.
"There aren't no beautiful mermaids are there?" I asked weakly and Isha's cold face cracked as she snorted and looked at me in amusement.
"Mermen, and Mermaids are completely different races Jake, Mermen are monsters and Mermaids are just another supernatural race like Wolf/Cat Beastkin... Mermaids are all too well aware by flashing some titty, they can get some strapping young man to be jerked off over their pile of eggs."
I really... Really didn't need to be told that Mermaids like other fishes had the eggs for the next generation outside.
I shook my head at the way my thoughts had gone to such a weird place but regardless I chuckled as I spoke up. "Well, that's a relief for me at least."
To which I earned a roll from her silverish-pink eyes.
Now it was my turn to be interrogated as Isha lounged across the couch and shamelessly laid her legs on my lap as she looked at me from across the couch while speaking. "What was your home world like? Was there demons and other monsters there?"
I paused at the question before wryly shaking my head as I answered with some nostalgia. "Maybe. Long ago there were... We had a lot of myths, myths matching one region far away from the other with myths of terrible monsters. But no, in the modern-day of the world I lived within, there were no monsters besides the monsters within each human."
Isha and I were silent for a long moment before she sighed and said gently. "That must have been nice... Your heroes of old must have slayed all the evil in the world, leaving only the evil within all humans to remain." She shook her head as she looked at me seriously. "I would take the unpredictable evils of humanity, over seemingly endless monsters that are born naturally, in overflowing dungeons, from hell dimensions, and other abominable sources."
I wanted to refute, thinking about terrible leaders of my past world, ones whose regime brought untold suffering to millions of lives. But then I thought about something in the Guild. A high-ranked mission that was to slay a terrible necromancer, a necromancer that had raised the corpses of dozens of dragons who was being a nuance in one of the more highly dangerous kingdoms I said fuck being summoned to.
So I didn't say anything and instead just tickled her legs making Isha snort at my presumptive playing around.
"So eager to get your hands on me?" She teased and I looked over and saw the small flush filling her cheeks as I tickled the back of her knee.
I took a moment and considered things. I didn't really know Isha that well... I was well aware of that, and in all likelihood, I wouldn't come back to this small town I didn't even know the name of.
But after a moment of thought, I mentally said fuck it. I was here in this world, and if it ran off some titty logic I wasn't going to question it too much.
