Lower Decks is also some excellent Trek. The first couple of episodes were a little rough as it felt a bit too much like trying to meet a corporate mandate to have a Star Trek Rick and Morty. But once they settled into their groove it became really top tier. You can see the love the writers have for the property with all the easter eggs, and a lot of the episodes are very much Trek problems with Trek solutions, just with the average zaniness level a little higher. And the Lower Decks + Strange New Worlds crossover episode is an all-timer.

They actually did mention Jinwoo's dad! In like, the very first episode he mentions that he has to take care of his mom and sister because his dad disappeared. Granted that was I think the only time until he shows up.
