Grimoire Heart were talking about how ‘he’ (Azuma) was already on the island, but it was supposed to be kinda confusing because at the time you didn’t know if they were referring to Mest or someone else. Glad you’re planning to binge this arc!

Mavis was the founder of Fairy Tail and the first Guild Master. Precht became the second Guild Master and he made Makarov the 3rd. So Makarov is fighting the person who was his guild master growing up.

Yeah, a new opening happens at 112, so you can watch the opening on episode 11. For Gajeel the iron scales are an imitation of Dragon Force. He hasn't achieved Dragon Force yet.

Purehito (Or Hades as he's known now) was the previous master of fairy tail. He chose the next master before leaving the guild and some time later he became the master of the dark guild. I don't know if it's spoilers to tell you which number he is (for example Mavis was the first master) so I'll refrain.
