Participation had in the past been a simple matter of invitation - a letter, an email, or a personal visit by the organizers, all depending on one's stature, and then simply showing up.
Evidently, with the economy in the state it was in, hard times had fallen upon the King of Fighters tournament as well. While invites certainly still were sent out, the hopefuls who showed up would quickly find themselves staring down lengthy paperwork to sign, and, most crucially, a rather hefty fee for signing up.
Few were prepared for the sudden change, and even fewer still had been so ill prepared as Mai Shiranui. Her rampant pursuit of Andy had gotten her into trouble more than a few times, and as she'd rushed across the nation without much thought, she'd found herself standing outside the tournament grounds, unable to join at all.
"Rather, I know a place, for such things."
Her zeal had once more gotten the better of her so, in that moment, she listened to Geese Howard's words.
That was four days ago. The walls of the brothel were thin, and so her voice intermingled with the others plying their trade, her two lovers unabashedly lending their deeper tones to the chorus as well. "Want me to-... to paint that pretty little whore face of yours?" He grunted, knees spreading wide as he thrust upwards without abandon between her breasts. All she could do was nod, silently, her breath caught in her chest as she marveled at the jets of seed hitting her insides, just like she had so many times over the past few days.
Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew that she'd covered the tournament cost on day one. It didn't seem to matter much in the moment.
