Yeah it would be best to watch the reminiscence movie after Season 1 as that's where it is set in the novel and explains a lot about Tatsuya and Miyuki. (In the novels it's Tatsuya and Miyuki literally reminiscing about their past in the present, the movie simply just shows the past as one continuous story)

Tatsuya used his Gram Dispersion spell on Lu Gonghu, which blasted away all the Magic Spells he activated on himself ( Fortifying Magic and such stuff) and also the Magic Spell that hold his Wound closed that he get when he tryed to kill Chiaki in the Hospital.
