The Mist is super relevant right now because it's done by Frank Darabont who did the first season of walking dead and has a few characters from it in the movie.

Big Honking Cheese
I'm late but one movie worth a look is Frailty (2001). It stars Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton who also directed it. Its more of a creepy thriller but it is soooo good.
