Here's a minor detail most people didn't notice. What the King did was figured out Netero's "rhythm," his personal "bias." This cost Netero his limbs. Now remember back in episode 7, guess what arm and leg Netero instinctively used in that game with Gon? Well in this episode, which arm and leg did he lose? Ding ding ding. That's next level foreshadowing.
It took him 2 years to get to the point where he completed his training routine in under an hour. It took him at least 4 years (since it said he started at age 46 and came back at 50) to finish it all.

I love the foreshadowing of Meruem underestimating a human's growth potential. He thought it took 5-10 years for Netero to get so strong when it only took him 2.
