Did you ever wonder why the creator of the series made it so his heart was destroyed? It is often symbolyzied as the center of emotion, care, integrity, etc basically humanity. But Migi helped him heal it so perhaps it is a sign of him understanding the nature of fighting, violence, and more. Him not showing empathy or sadness to his father isn't a sign of him not caring but it is a sign of him understanding the broader scope of things I think.
