They been talking about Ba Song Se and Iroh for a long time now, as previously mentioned Iroh laid seige to the Earth kingdom capital for 600 days, unable to conquer the city he and his army returned home in failure. Cool to see Iroh in the flashback here.

The lore behind this episode: Zuko’s mother found out about the Fire Lord’s order to kill Zuko. She agreed with her husband Ozai to have the Fire Lord poisoned, which she did. As punishment for this, she was banished from the Fire Nation. Edit: it aint a spoiler if it just happened in this episode Edit 2: it’s not a spoiler, this episode is the only time this is remotely implied in the whole show. The detailed explanation is in the comics, which few people read.

Im pretty sure zukos mom ran away because she didn't want to be in a nation which was corrupt as hell. And then as for the firelord I think he tried to punish zukos dad, and then he just killed him and made some shit up to over it.

most of the animals in the show are a mix between 2 real world animals.

You guys should skip the previously on stuff. Biggest spoiler out there. It's not like you haven't seen season 1 in a year. They'll be like, 'remember this character?...they're back'. Total spoiler.
