Now that I think about it didn't the ranking guy mention how previous #1 kings would either go missing or lose their minds once gained a certain treasure? What if the crazy guy in the forest was a previous #1 ranked king.

To add more context to Kingbo's backstory. -It's suggested that Kingbo's father is the mad king in the forest as you've mentioned. -If you recall what Apeas told us before, the number 1 kings all go mad after getting the divine treasure from the ranking committee. -Kingbo's father most likely went mad after leaving him with the throne and destroyed the kingdom. -Kingbo coincidentally sounds exactly like the royalty that Kage's family used to work for.
