Gladiator Beach - California
🕑 Added 2024-06-18 20:07:47 +0000 UTCHey guys,
Here’s a new fictional track for you, hopefully something to fill the gap between Spring Mountain updates. This is a concept, turned into a more finished project that I have been working on in my spare time. Because when I’m not building tracks, I like to relax but building tracks… Yeah probably need to take a look at that situation in more detail, and work out a better track / life balance.
Anyway, here’s Gladiator Beach!

Work in progress - but features.
AI
Replay Cams
Some CSP features.
Partial night lighting
Originally, I was going to pair this track with two other track designs, and post a poll, where the winner would be finished off, like we did with Silver City '66 back in the day, but I like this design so much, I could not bring myself to abandon it.
I was scanning around Google earth, and spotted the location where the sea meets some quit high hills, with a highway separating the two vastly different landscapes. I have attempted to try and squeeze a racetrack into the gap next to the highway.
Turns out, after I had imported the terrain, and worked out the initial track design, that ‘Gladiator Beach’ is actually a nudist beach. So that is interesting. You will be relieved to know, I have not modelled the nudists at the trackside, and will refrain from doing so in the future!
The track layout is still up for debate, so happy for any feedback you may have, there is a unique apex on the top of a hill towards the end of the lap, which I find fun, but would love to hear what you guys think.
Finally, as this is very much a work in progress track, please keep in mind many features are still missing, and there are graphical bugs. I am not necessarily looking for feedback on those aspects of this project yet.
Thanks,
Ty.

I've got to say, I think this is a phenomenal circuit in its current form -- great flow with lots of elevation changes and a nice range of corners (including that hilltop right-hander and the subsequent sequence, and the banking going back onto the main straight). I find it *very* satisfying to drive. And it's already looking really good. You've really nailed it with this one (as usual!).
