Chapter 400: Failed Before Even Trying
🕑 Added 2025-09-30 06:06:11 +0000 UTCAnyone who had seen the movies knew what Loki's fate was before. This guy had crashed the party in the Battle of New York with the Tesseract. This guy eventually drew Thanos's attention to protect Thor, then approached Thanos under the guise of handing over the Tesseract, preparing to assassinate him. Unfortunately, this guy's skill was too lacking; he was not only discovered directly by Thanos but also immediately strangled to death, and his corpse floated to who knew where in the universe.
Noah had no intention of telling Loki about this. A general emphasis and explanation of "if there are no changes, it will be very miserable" was enough. Even if Loki wasn't satisfied, Noah didn't care at all. Anyway, if Noah didn't intend to say something, he wouldn't.
Noah enjoyed spoilers, but he wouldn't spoil things without considering future developments. Loki probably also realized that Noah didn't intend to tell him anything, which made Loki frustrated but he could only give up. He was no match for Noah, and besides, Loki actually didn't want to think too much about certain things internally. Living under the shackles of fate for a
long time was not a happy thing.
Walking with Loki, Noah's gaze once again fell upon Asgard's beautiful scenery. It had to be said that the Asgardians were truly dedicated to transforming their living environment. Although Asgardian architecture looked like ancient European architecture, it was more exquisite and magnificent, and the people's way of life was more like that of ancient people. But the technology hidden beneath these surfaces was truly tens of thousands of years beyond Earth. Noah had lived in Asgard for quite some time and had learned a great deal of Asgardian knowledge. He certainly understood how difficult it was to achieve all this; at least Earth was currently unable to do so.
"I wonder if there are any fools who, without knowing beforehand that Asgardian civilization is far superior to Earth's, came here and wondered if they had arrived on a more backward, not yet truly civilized planet?"
"Heh, that's not funny at all, because no one can just casually walk in."
Noah's quiet mumble was heard clearly by Loki, immediately earning him a roll of the eyes. How could such a ridiculous thing happen? Noah just sighed and didn't continue. He turned his head and continued to look at the technology hidden behind these ancient buildings, technology that surpassed Earth's. To be honest, Noah felt a little tempted looking at these things. If these things were combined with magic, wouldn't they make countless invaders explode in frustration although these things were already enough to make enemies explode in frustration, wouldn't it be even better if they were even more superior?
"You're interested in these technological things?" Loki, who had been following Noah, naturally noticed the direction of his attention and asked somewhat strangely, "Aren't you a sorcerer?"
"Of course I'm a sorcerer, but why can't I be interested in these things?" Noah looked at Loki strangely. "Besides, I also have subordinates who study both technology and magic. I think the combination of magic and technology is a very good direction for development." This was indeed a very good direction for development, especially since Noah had learned from Victor that Tony had entrusted him with establishing a factory before Noah came. Noah felt that these things could essentially be considered achievable.
Loki didn't refute Noah's idea. Instead, he thought seriously for a moment and then nodded. The combination of technology and magic had already been done in Asgard, but their interest in such fusion wasn't particularly high, especially given that Asgard's population was mostly warriors.
With various thoughts in mind, Loki led Noah to his room and then suddenly told Noah as he left, "That's a great idea. If you need some special technology, maybe I can give you a hand."
"Oh?" Noah looked at Loki strangely. "Speak, what do you want?"
"Help me complete this transformation. That not-so-good future you mentioned, I don't like it. I want to try."
"Deal."
After making a verbal agreement with Loki, Noah simply entered the room. It was quite interesting, last time he came with Ms.Haifin and Wong, they stayed in this very room, and now it was here again. Looking at the sky, Noah found it was still quite early, so he simply went to the library not far from the palace and stayed there for a good afternoon until the sky gradually darkened before returning to his room.
Coincidentally, Noah happened to encounter Thor and Jane, who had just finished dinner and were on a date here. Noah had no intention of being a third wheel. After a brief exchange with the two, Noah left them to their privacy, the young man and the older man and the young woman.
However, from Thor, Noah did learn some interesting information. For example, they had already found the inside man. Noah didn't know how they did it, but the Dark Elf who was the inside man had been imprisoned in the dungeon. On the surface, it looked normal, but in reality, that cell was specially constructed. One could say he was quite unlucky; that inside man happened to be glimpsed by Odin, and as a result, his identity was directly exposed.
Almost everyone knew that this guy was not just some simple character, but a highly dangerous Kursk warrior.
So Odin and his people directly made his detention area a completely separate zone. It seemed very difficult for that Kursk warrior to break out from there. In fact, all the prisoners there were disguised elite warriors of Asgard, mostly rank seven or higher, ensuring no mistakes.
As for when the Dark Elves would attack, it completely depended on when this guy would act. However, so far, there had been no problems in the dungeon, so Noah thought he would probably have to wait a while, which wasn't an issue anyway.
"It's a good time to meditate, or perhaps find an angel in the system space for a one-on-one fight, and observe their magic and such."
However, what Noah didn't expect was that in the deepest part of the night, a subtle vibration came through. This immediately made Noah, who had been monitoring the outside situation with the system, open his eyes. Not long after, Thor burst in fully armed from outside. "The Kursk warrior has begun to act, Noah. My father sent me to find you and ask if you're interested in joining the fight?" Thor had clearly already been to the scene; he had come after receiving Odin's orders.
"Is that so? Alright, let's go take a look." Although Noah was a little annoyed that these Dark Elves weren't following the script, it was all within reason. Although Malekith was quite brainless, he had his moments of clarity, didn't he? Night was naturally the time the Dark Elves preferred most. Furthermore, night made people sleepy and defenses relatively weaker, making such a surprise attack against an unprepared opponent ideal.
"It's just a shame, Asgard is prepared this time."
Casually opening a portal, Noah directly took Thor to the outer battlefield. Just then, Noah noticed the Dark Elf mothership launching an attack on Asgard, while Odin stood straight, doing nothing and saying nothing. But the Asgardians, as if infinitely inspired, appeared seemingly out of nowhere, their hidden Asgardian skiffs surrounding the Dark Elf fighters as they charged towards the Golden Palace.
This encirclement seemed to make the Dark Elves freeze, as they hadn't expected their perfectly planned sneak attack to turn into a direct confrontation. However, as ancient enemies, the Dark Elves would not surrender. Once they snapped back, they immediately launched a fierce assault on the Asgardian fighters.
"It's truly comparable to a Hollywood blockbuster." Noah thought to himself with a hint of amusement, watching the continuous explosions in the sky. Even as an outsider, Noah could tell that these Dark Elves probably wouldn't last long, as both their equipment and strength were significantly inferior to Asgard's.
To be honest, if guys like the Dark Elves were to just sneak attack and then run, Asgard probably wouldn't have any way to deal with them. But if they lingered in battle even a little, something major could happen. And now that Asgard had Noah's warning, they were prepared.
"Your Majesty."
Just as Noah was watching the grand spectacle before him, a guard suddenly scurried over to Odin and bowed respectfully. Judging by the aura from this guard, he was definitely a Rank 7 warrior!
"Has the situation over there been resolved?" Odin asked calmly.
"Yes, Your Majesty." The guard nodded. "That Kursk warrior was quite troublesome, but in the end, we cut off his head, and he has been completely dealt with."
"That's good. No one else was injured, I hope?"
"Aside from Garen and Jarvan sustaining minor injuries, no one else had any problems."
Odin nodded very calmly, while Noah's expression was somewhat strange. Garen? Jarvan? What's going on here?
Will people named Garen and Jarvan always become friends in the end? Shaking his head, Noah quickly dismissed these random thoughts. Because at this moment, it was only a matter of time before the trapped Dark Elf mothership was destroyed; even if they wanted to turn around and escape, it would be too late.
Moreover, Asgardian skiffs were fast and highly maneuverable, so they wouldn't just watch the enemy calmly turn around and leave. This greatly infuriated and frustrated Malekith, the Dark Elf commander. A perfectly planned sneak attack had actually turned into a head-on confrontation? How could his Dark Elves possibly contend with these Asgardian beasts? If they could, he wouldn't have been beaten by Thor's grandfather and then his father.
So this guy simply made a bold decision to land and take some Asgardians hostage! And coincidentally, the place he chose to land the mothership was right above Noah and the others.
