Chapter 404: Holding a Retirement Ceremony for the Hammer
🕑 Added 2025-10-06 05:47:03 +0000 UTCThe final outcome was good; Noah didn't spend too much time convincing Odin to keep the gem in Asgard.
In reality, Noah could see that although Odin internally wanted to hand the Reality Stone over to the Collector in Knowhere, unlike the original story, Asgard no longer had a second Infinity Stone. The result of this was that Odin's resolve wasn't as firm; otherwise, in the original story, he wouldn't have kept the Time Stone in Asgard. It could be said that Noah achieved all of this with little effort, which surprised Noah while also making him feel it was natural.
Of course, what made him happiest was that Odin strictly kept his promise, directly handing Noah a letter.
This letter was clearly addressed to the race that looked like giants but were actually called Dwarves. Noah's new magic wand would probably truly have to rely on this race.
Asgard's forging technology was indeed good, but compared to the Dwarves who could forge Stormbreaker, there was still a considerable difference. Although Noah didn't expect his new magic wand to be able to hold six Infinity Stones at once like the Infinity Gauntlet, at least being able to put two in would be fine, right?
"So, you're going to find the Dwarves?" Thor, after learning that Jane was fine, didn't stick around too much.
Besides, Thor acutely noticed that Jane seemed to have strong opinions about some of his actions now, leading Thor to decide they should cool off for a bit. It must be said that this guy was a super straight man. Although Noah might do the same, shouldn't the normal operation be to shamelessly stick to her?
"Yes, I thought about this years ago, but it's been dragged on until now." Noah nodded and said directly, "Oh, by the way, you'll probably have to come with me then."
"Father has already told me about it. Don't worry, I'll be a great guide."
"Is that so? I just hope you don't get me lost." Thor a good guide? Noah stroked his chin. He felt he probably would be a good guide. Recalling Thor's past travel experiences, this guy either almost got swallowed by a dragon because the guard changed when he called the Bifrost, or he passed through the Bifrost only to be intercepted by Hela and dropped onto a terrifying planet.
Or he was flying a spaceship and just happened to send a distress signal and encountered Thanos. It could be said that this guy's extraterrestrial travels were simply a collection of tragedies.
"By the way, before we leave, there might be one more thing to do." Just as Noah was lost in thought, Thor suddenly spoke, which made Noah a little bewildered. He remembered that everything that needed to be done in Asgard was basically done, right? The rest were probably minor things like sending Jane home. Could it be that Noah had to do this too?
"What is it?"
"My father wants us to fight properly before we leave. A full-on battle, just like a few years ago." When he said this, Noah clearly felt Thor's inexplicable enthusiasm.
This made Noah a little confused. What was going on?
Didn't Thor know that he wasn't Noah's opponent?
Leaving everything else aside, just the difference in their levels was there. Even Loki could sense it, and Thor was much stronger than Loki, right? After much thought, Noah found that he still couldn't quite understand the key point, but the meaning of such a battle was probably to take the opportunity to get Stormbreaker back?
"Are you sure your father said this?" Noah stroked his
nose. He felt like he still didn't have the ability to crush hammers, did he?
"Yes." Thor nodded seriously. "Don't refuse me, Noah. I know I'm not your opponent, but that doesn't affect our fight. And this is probably the last time I'll use Mjolnir in battle."
"Last time using Mjolnir? Why? What's going on?"
"After learning my true power from you, I've been constantly training these powers. And my father told me that to truly master these powers, I must abandon my old habits. Mjolnir is a weapon that guides my power, and it's no longer suitable for the current me."
Thor gripped the hammer in his hand, stating an excuse that even Noah found hard to refuse. Indeed, Mjolnir was no longer so suitable for Thor. The hammer's original purpose was to guide Thor's power, giving him sufficient buffer.
But now Noah appeared. He not only tutored Thor in advance, making him realize whether he was the God of Thunder or the God of Hammer. He also allowed Thor to train his power faster, reaching a good level of power much faster than in the original story. By now, Thor basically no longer needed this hammer.
Although it could still exert considerable power, for Thor, this thing was somewhat redundant in terms of both strength and function, so getting a stronger and more suitable weapon for Thor's power became especially important.
"It seems you're planning to hold a retirement ceremony for Mjolnir?"
"Yes, what do you think?"
"No problem, I also want to see your current level." It was indeed completely different from the original story, which was also a very good change. Because letting Thor realize these things himself was countless times better than having him realize it after the hammer was destroyed. Humans are emotional creatures. Just like when you name an animal, you already have feelings for it, even if it's a hammer.
Following Thor's footsteps, Noah and he walked to a somewhat dilapidated gladiatorial arena. To be honest, if he hadn't known the route, Noah would have wanted to open a portal directly. This slow pace was not Noah's style at all. When they entered the arena, Noah found that not many people had come. Besides Odin and Frigga, only Loki was standing there. Even Jane wasn't qualified to come here; Noah knew this woman hadn't left Asgard.
"It seems Odin also believes this is a love story without an ending." Shaking his head, Noah fully focused on Thor, and Thor himself now looked solemnly at Noah. It was clear that this guy wasn't nervous at all; instead, his whole body seemed to enter a state of heated excitement.
"Noah, I never thought we'd be fighting again." At this moment, Thor suddenly showed a smile.
"Yes, last time I didn't expend much effort dealing with you. I hope this time you can truly make me work hard."
Noah teased Thor casually. In fact, Noah truly didn't expend much effort in their last fight.
"I hope so too." Thor took a deep breath. "And this time, I will definitely give it my all!" As soon as he finished speaking, Thor's body erupted with powerful lightning. In an instant, he had already arrived next to Noah! The Mjolnir in his hand unleashed terrifying power, bringing countless silver electrical arcs down heavily towards Noah.
"Buzz!" Just as Mjolnir was about to hit Noah, ripples suddenly appeared around them. As these strange ripples undulated like water, Noah instantly vanished from his original spot. And a strange power fluctuation erupted from where Noah had been. If Thor hadn't been prepared and retreated like lightning when he sensed something was wrong, the fight probably wouldn't have continued.
"The power of space? That's really a headache."
"You're the same, you're actually playing sneak attacks now."
After complaining to each other, the two once again concentrated all their energy. It must be said that Thor was truly fierce. Although Noah had long been prepared for such a sneak attack, he really didn't expect Thor to be so decisive. Was this still that big-browed, good-natured guy? Could this guy be Loki transformed?
Thinking this, Noah's magic never stopped. Even though the two were complaining to each other, their attacks had already reached each other's faces. Thor's hammer was powerful and heavy, so Noah naturally wouldn't think of clashing with him head-on. And Noah's magic was also a headache for Thor, especially this time when Noah let loose and directly used spatial power, the level of difficulty was even more terrifying than last time.
Silver electrical arcs and various elemental spells intertwined, and roaring explosions continuously echoed in the gladiatorial arena. Odin, Frigga, and Loki stood in the stands watching the battle, their inner thoughts completely different.
Probably only Frigga was worried that Thor would be hurt by Noah. As a sorceress, she naturally sensed that Noah was much stronger than Thor. Loki was purely there to watch his brother's embarrassment, while Odin's expression was very calm, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.
The battle in the arena continued. Odin watched as Noah appeared from any angle at any time, then cast terrifying spells to blast Thor away, repeating the process. Odin shook his head helplessly. The battle was still going on, but in reality, this battle was almost over.
For Noah, he was now also giving his all, because he had used almost all his abilities except for his domain. Thor's situation was similar. Although he was much stronger than in the original story, comparable to a prime example of a cheat-code user, his cheat code had clearly not yet been fully activated, while Noah's cheat code, though not as powerful, had at least been used for some
time.
However, what Noah didn't expect was that when Noah
directly used "Firestorm" to end the battle, Thor suddenly erupted with an indescribable power fluctuation.
