They kinda did tho. They weren't allowed to go out on their own (vmin had to run away in order to go to an internet cafe and they got yelled at afterwards), weren't allowed to eat ice cream or something that could gain them weight (joonie had to put his ice cream into his pocket to hide it from his manager), and when they were tired and went to sleep in the bathroom in the middle of practice, the managers dragged them back to practice more - just to name a few. They also required jimin to stay really fit for their debut due to the part in choreo where he lifts his shirt, even though he didn't want to do that (all members originally lifted their shirts, but then it was changed and only jimin had to). So basically Bighit was just as bad as the rest of the companies - it's just that Bang PD makes their trainee and debut days sound way more free than what the members have told themselves. BUT they did get freedom to participate in the song-making so that might be a pretty huge difference compared to other companies (like artistical freedom and such).

Im Late but I just want to say not every K-pop agency had those extreme training methods like big hit didn’t put them through that harsh training method nor did they have really strict rules like other kpop companies had

They didn’t show V because he was a hidden member, so when the members did things in front of the camera, he had to be away until debut day, which is the next episode.
