Marceline was ready for ‘battle’.
At least, that’s what she chanted towards herself as she mustered that bravery she had long plotted to employ in a situation like this. It was just her and John… and the various drones- but those were not ‘alive’ the same way as they did.
Plus, they weren’t in the living room that her former boss had prepared for the ‘sleepover’ she had offered to have at his place. Red snacks, some red orange juice and…
“A TV?” Marcy asked, a bit baffled by the size of the device.
“Why yes, I built this one a while ago after I found some old movies. I thought back to the time when I mentioned Star Wars to you, so I wanted to have a little surprise by the time we had an occasion like this one.”
The girl nodded, eyes transfixed over the large screen. It was bigger than the one her mother used to have back home, and the Vampire Queen could still remember that some of the shows displayed through it were quite cool.
It was kind of surprising that PB had not done something like that considering how cool it would have been but… then again, Marceline could only fault herself over it beyond her ex considering that she had plenty of chances to bring that one up.
Marceline just… focused too much in trying to make it work. And it didn’t. And it wasn’t the kind of topic her mind should entertain considering she was trying to score, not lose her mind over the past.
So, she soon plopped down on the couch, right beside John as he took notice of her ‘sleepwear’.
The red half-sleeved mesh shirt was not completely see-through, but she knew John noticed the ‘silhouette’ of her breasts considering she had ditched her bra. The black panties were already quite thin, and barely contained what was about to be a source of wetness if things go as intended.
John indeed stared at her, the slight widening of his gaze confirming he had noticed as Marcy smiled at the first of many victories. As she contemplated her next move, however, something came up that screwed with her plans: the movie itself.
Star Wars was a series, thus there were multiple movies to watch. Marceline had ruled it out to be some old boring thing but…
Holy fuck, it’s good.
Out of all potential sources of entertainment, this series was pure and utter gold. She wasn’t that fazed by how old the effects were considering that Ooo was just weird enough for some of that stuff to be easily mistaken for real things but- but it was the music.
As someone with a keen eye, Marcy found the instrumentals to be worthy of each scene- it raised the stakes, it made the story memorable and it imprinted feelings and actions through the tune itself.
For roughly twelve hours, Marceline was just unable to do much but chat about the movie, eyes unwilling to look away as she consumed snacks, listened to what John had to mention about each actor and specific effects and… she was utterly spent.
The whole experience, as John had promised her many centuries ago, was worthy of the lengthy time period spent watching it. She was utterly floored by how things went, the ‘Skywalker Saga’ giving her something to wonder if the other movies John tended to mention were just as good.
But as the wonderful experience ceased… Marceline took notice of reality. And she stuck with the main issue: the fact she had outright forgotten what was the main goal of ‘Operation Sleepover’.
Despair exploded within her red eyes as she tried to think of something to make this work but… but the circumstance was actually very awkward to waddle about: first, she was no longer sitting beside John- she was sitting on his lap, hugging his neck as she had unconsciously shifted in that position; yet, despite the compromising position that should offer her a chance, the second point and, by far, the most pressing of them all was that…
John was asleep.
It was absurd considering that he had said he was asleep for a few years now- he just closed his eyes and dozed off like that! Marceline wanted to be annoyed by this, but maybe his abrupt awakening messed up with his sleeping pattern.
And they both should be asleep at this point, she realized.
Huffing, the girl took a moment to stare at his face, reaching with her hands to remove his glasses and put them away to stare at his face- she could still see the short-haired dork that made her feel such a loser when she couldn’t be honest with him and…
And she used this very opportunity to be honest. If not to him, at least to herself.
“I know you can’t hear me, but I would have really liked to finally tell you after centuries of holding back that… I do love you.”
She didn’t go for a ‘cheeky kiss’ or a kiss on the cheek, but rather she leaned closer and decided to shut her eyes while hugging him. That was the ideal way to end that small disaster that still was pleasant to be brought at but…
Marceline tensed up as she felt his arms slowly shift to hug her back.
“Took you long enough,” He whispered calmly and Marcy’s mind was instantly pulled out of any interest to fall asleep.
She pulled back, eyes wide open as she stared at the smiling fellow vampire. John was awake- and smiling.
“YOU WERE AWAKE ALL THIS TIME?!?”
“Well, you were kind of getting too cozy so, rather than get caught in a mess I just tried to fall asleep but…” His smile got a bit more smug. “You finally confessed.”
FINALLY!?
“How- How long did you know?”
“A while.”
“Why didn’t you- Why didn’t you do anything about it?”
“I did. I gave you a few chances to confess since you really wanted to be the one to do that,” John replied calmly. “I was tempted to help at times, but I could tell it would have pissed you off. So I'll let you give your shot.”
“And? Why didn’t you stop me when I said I wanted to leave?” At this point, Marceline was quite irritated by this discovery, but she spotted a rather ‘odd’ look on John’s face as she said that.
It was as if he was unable to think of a right response or- rather, he was struggling to remember the precise reason behind that decision. It had been a long time ago, she couldn’t fault him for potentially struggling to remember, but… he owed her an answer.
“I think…” He closed his eyes, sighed and then opened those again. “I think it had to do with the fact your words felt genuine. Very genuine. You wanted to leave and I thought that you were quite confident about it. You were nervous, but you had decided that it was best to call it quits and so I let you be.”
Marceline wanted to scream at him for saying that.
‘Why did you not fight for me?’ or ‘Why did you not just tease me into trying?’, but her reasons fell short before a very chilling mistake she made and she knew was big- she had been afraid of making that step. And she had been afraid for decades before actually giving up on it. Until now.
“But it’s alright now. Like, we all made mistakes, so we could just go through dates or I could kiss you right now and-”
“No.”
John paused at her interjection. “No?”
Marceline hesitated for a moment. She was literally pushing away her golden opportunity but… she wasn’t shallow. And she knew what John was trying to accomplish- he didn’t like this sort of conflict and tended to appease.
Which was why she was going to milk that moron’s efforts into giving her the best deal possible for the kind of crap he put her through for the last few centuries’ worth of what ifs.
“You still owe me for making me go through centuries of insecurity because you wanted me to make the ‘first step’. So… if you want to date me, then you have to uphold three demands.”
“Those are?”
“A proper date. You, me, lots of fun,” Marceline started to list out, “Then I want you to be the one starting the kisses. And you have to mean it.”
He blinked at those conditions, but nodded at this when-
“Third, this is non-negotiable. A night of debauchery that will span for hours and hours, until either one of us is completely drained.”
Marceline remembered reading from one of her mother’s last journals that usually it worked to do these three and land a loving husband- she didn’t get that lucky due to her father but… she was going to make it. Especially since John was not like her father- not at all.
Speaking of the male vampire, he raised a questioning finger-
“No condoms.”
“I-I was about to ask why that was a thing but… no condoms?” He asked a double question, perplexed by this turn of events.
“The condom bit is because condoms are meh,” That’s also in mom’s journal. “Also, yeah- if you can seal the deal early on, how can you be sure it will work?”
“Don’t you have exes?” John pressed on this. “Does this mean that you-”
“Not with Ash. But my former girl was… well, she wasn’t that easy to coax into it. She just wanted to write and sign papers, and we barely kissed.”
The worst part is that PB had fucking toys to play with herself. How come she couldn’t just want to play with me too!
“I would be your first?”
“Yup,” Marcy confessed, cheeks flaring red for a brief moment as she realized she came out as a virgin. “I-Is it alright?”
“Only means I would have to be quite careful since the first time is a bit ‘painful’.”
“How much is ‘painful’?”
“Not enough to make it too unpleasant as pleasure is supposed to replace the pain quite swiftly.”
Marceline nodded at this important piece of information. “So? Are you willing to accept my conditions?”
…
“Sure.”
Her eyes widened astronomically. “Really?”
“Yeah,” He frowned. “Wait, you thought I was going to say no?”
She shrugged. “Kinda. Still, I expect you to be ready about doing ‘intense’ stuff. I am flexible, but I wonder how much you are nowadays.”
The challenge was hurled and the intrigued gaze on John’s face morphed in a big grin.
“I missed you, Marcy.”
Marceline grinned back at her soon-to-be boyfriend.
She missed him lots too~.

AN
Next time, Finn and Jake come back with an answer, they are given a bit of a lecture on how simple the answer was and then… PB gets a tiny POV.

Aggron black
Perhaps John can teach Finn the dangers of Tier 13 and how to safely understand kinks without screwing himself.
Lost Story of winds
I simply adore when the Pov gets switched to show the effects of the characters. I am looking forward to this.
