You can't imagine how bad it sucks to lose my voice. I feel completely useless!

My throat feels like I swallowed acid, it's extremely painful and if I speak more than a few words it triggers a terrible coughing fit, so I've been reduced to lounging on the couch, binging on Netflix, sleeping more than any human should, and shaking my head and doing hand gestures to avoid talking whenever possible. I haven't been sick like this in a while, though I do have a history of being quite susceptible to pharyngitis and laryngitis that dates all the way back to middle school. So it's not my first rodeo when it comes to this sort of thing...
It usually takes about 2-3 weeks to recover to the point that my voice is strong enough to start recording long passages of text and other more "strenuous" vocalisations. But I'm hoping to beat the odds and be able to squeeze in some things before then. But for now, I can probably guarantee I won't be speaking at all for the next 4-5 days because it hurts like a mofo! And unfortunately these aren't the sort of things that antibiotics can help with, as it's viral... so not much a doctor can do for me.
Trying to force myself to get extra rest, sleeping whenever I feel like I can. But I'm a very whiny patient! I tend to go full-on "little girl" when I'm sick. Luckily, Daddy is a saint and takes such good care of me!
Please be patient, I'm going stir crazy here so as soon as I can, I promise I'll be behind the mic creating something naughty for you all!

I've pretty much been on my own this whole time because Daddy has had an incredibly busy workload, working from the time he wakes up til the time we go to sleep. But luckily for me he's been able to work from home the entire time, so he's here if I need him, and he's getting me meals and medication and snuggles etc. So I'm watching things that we don't already watch together.

Hope you feel better soon, Candy. Regular sore throats are annoying as is, i cant imagine what it'd feel like for that to be taken to the next level times 10. On the bright side i hope you're finding lots of interesting (and potentially naughty) stuff on netflix to watch with Daddy. :)

Yes, I think because my livelihood IS my voice, it just makes it that much worse. But I know that if my voice is too weak, and I strain it, it just sets me back even farther... so I have to be careful.

I know how you feel, I have a similar susceptability and was ill again just before Xmas. Ended up having to take 3 weeks of November off sick from work. The only things that made me feel better were tea, and a cough syrup made of lemon, honey snd glycerin. It was horrible. I hope you feel better soon. Don't rush yourself to record something, you'll just hurt your throat more. You have to take care of your health first and foremost.
