Phil's wife was, but you probably got that since you read part too, but in case anyone else sees this they will know. The note was from a mysterious person who had appeared a few times before, and her mischief was completely separate from the room's magic. I'd say the real reason they went into the room was because of the curse. It drew them in without them even knowing, and the room actually wanted both of them, but again our mysterious witch snatched one of them for her object transformation revenge. Any more questions?
