Well Tolkien borrowed a lot from the King Arthur and grail quest stories while using traditional Irish folklore creatures. In original world building though he was definitely a pioneer.

I think the theatrical versions of 1 and 2 are good and I recommend the extended edition for 3....just me though

You should have just done the theatrical version. That's why it was so slow.

Jens reaction and conclusion/rating is understandable if you consider that she probably hasn't been in touch with any of this before. Still a little dissapointing tho to be honest :D But as a huge LotR fan I'm just biased. Very intrigued about her reaction of Two Towers.

So far so good, but this is why I don't like when people watch the Harry Potter movies first, as JK Rowling borrowed a lot from Lord of the Rings (not just her, but MANY fantasy stories have)....LOTR is practically the most original fantasy work, and thats why I always prefer people watching this before Harry Potter (I know it was up to a vote and it came in lower than Harry Potter, so can't blame you guys)
