For me, they're the best movies of all time. It's hard to understand how anyone would not want to plunge in an epic journey, just following every fantastic encounter, and let their imagination run wild. Like most people will say, the theatrical is the best way to introduce noobies, and that's how we all watched them first. But she said she'd rather have the whole package...so... I rewatch the trilogy extended every year during holidays season. It's a Christmas tradition. I'm glad you told her all 3 movies were filmed at once.

All you had to say is that Tolkien was a Catholic!?!? Well well well... I don't remember the last time I saw someone who has never even heard Dungeons & Dragons (most people don't know what it is, but they've heard of it). I'm guessing she's been raised in a ultra religious family ahahahah, shut off from the world.

I can't watch the scene of the fellowship being united without thinking of the parody mabe by Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar for some award ceremony.

Tolkien doesn’t do Allegory, he actually hates allegory. He takes a lot of inspiration from his own life, experience and faith but Lotr is by no means allegorical.
