Surviving as a Mage in a Magic Academy Chapter 750

However, the magic criminal wasn't an opponent easy enough to get angry at here. Yi-Han turned off his attention from the mad doppelganger and focused on the enemy.
'I can do it.'
Just as magic that was clumsy at first became familiar and went out skillfully with incantations the more it was repeated.
He felt the limited telekinesis changing shape and spreading freely like his own limbs.
'Stronger.'
Compressed telekinetic force lifted Antagondal with strong output. The magic criminal who had tried to test the telekinetic output by increasing mass was frustrated.
'This time, weaker.'
Thread-like telekinetic force spread out like tentacles in branches and detected the transparent Antagondal. The magic criminal who had tried to escape by hiding his body and changing volume became even more anxious.
'In the form of a sharp spear.'
An invisible spear pierced the enemy through gaps in the armor.
'In whip form.'
With the sound of air tearing beyond the wall, the enemy was flung away.
'This time as a shield.'
Incoming attacks lost their way in the air and fell.
Telekinesis-type magic practiced continuously, mana close to infinite, senses sharper than anyone else's...
All of these were fusing and expressing as understanding of telekinesis.
"Do you now understand what the royal told you to research, lowborn?"
The mad doppelganger spoke with wisdom as an outstanding mage and educator.
When Yi-Han first instinctively created a shield with telekinesis without incantation to block the attack, the mad doppelganger judged that the disciple before his eyes had learned at least one 5th Circle telekinesis-type magic.
Not only handling telekinesis freely like limbs, but also including non-verbal and swift attributes, this was enough to be called his own 5th Circle magic.
Seeing the natural movements, he could guess that it was completed by personally adding the mage's own experiences and characteristics based on broad understanding of a specific area.
It was much better than the attitude of just imitating existing magic like a parrot.
But surprisingly, this stupid and lowly disciple protested that he had never learned it.
It was as nonsensical as a bird born with wings shouting that it had never flown.
So the mad doppelganger instructed him to look back at his own magic instead of telling him to learn another 5th Circle magic.
Indeed, the disciple didn't betray the master's generosity and accomplished it splendidly...
'Should I really kill him.'
Of course, the stupid and lowly Yi-Han didn't know the mad doppelganger's mind at all.
Yi-Han sincerely wanted to charge at the mad doppelganger with the telekinesis he had learned.
The person who had helped in learning this 5th Circle magic, if he had to name it <Wardanaz's Telekinesis>, was Direth.
Even if he really conceded and included Professor Bagrak or the skull principal, he absolutely couldn't include the mad doppelganger.
He would rather include Professor Verduus...
"I lost, I lost!"
Antagondal, who had been persistently trying to find Yi-Han's weak points he hadn't mastered, finally gave up.
At first, he couldn't believe it and persisted without giving up, but halfway through, he clung on despite sensing his own defeat.
He had become curious about when the opponent would tire from using magic so wastefully.
However, if he dragged on time here any longer, he could incur not only the loss of his pride as a mage but also the mad doppelganger's anger.
Now was the time to admit and retreat.
"Young one. I'm curious about your name. What is your name?"
Antagondal asked for the opponent's name for the first time.
This great mage originally didn't ask for names directly himself.
Moreover, if it was a lower year student from Einroguard who was still a sprout of a mage, he did so even less.
Unless he had subordinates seduce or persuade them, even as a magic criminal, he had pride as a mage.
But the magic just shown was worthy of Antagondal asking for the name directly.
"I am Yi-Han of the Wardanaz family."
"...Wardanaz!!!"
Only then did Antagondal show surprise for the first time.
"Could it be that Wardanaz..."
"Hold out your arms."
The mad doppelganger spoke in an emotionless voice. Antagondal held out both arms politely.
If he stubbornly resisted in this situation, it might be his neck flying off instead of his arms.
Wouldn't it be much harder to recover from having his neck cut off than his arms?
"Please wait a moment!"
Surprisingly, this fearless boy intervened and tried to stop even with the mad doppelganger present.
The mad doppelganger's eyebrows curved up with anger, but fortunately he didn't explode in rage. Antagondal hurriedly spoke, worried that something unexpected might happen.
"This is not for you to worry about."
Even if both arms were cut off, it wasn't a big deal for a mage who had reached enlightenment.
Antagondal was confident he could regrow his arms anytime.
"That's not it, I'm curious why you were surprised to hear the Wardanaz name. If you're being executed now, could you tell me before you go?"
"..."
The magic criminal was dumbfounded at being caught off guard by a 2nd year student from Einroguard.
*
"Are you alright?"
Yi-Han asked, looking at Antagondal who had returned with his arms cut off.
Come to think of it, he felt he had asked too hastily earlier.
He had asked like that because the person might die soon and had cursed Yi-Han to die first, but thinking about it...
'It might have sounded a bit rude.'
"Of course!"
Antagondal knocked on the wall with the cross-section of his arm stump where darkness was rippling blackly.
Then earth and stone filled in to become Antagondal's new arm.
"It's not a very good prosthetic, but this is enough."
"Perhaps when you heard the Wardanaz name and were surprised..."
"It's better to stop talking about that."
'This bastard.'
Yi-Han cursed inwardly when the other party changed the subject instead of answering.
As expected, he was clearly holding a grudge for having his arms cut off because of Yi-Han.
He had wanted to probe for as much information as possible while meeting the magic criminal here...
"The master seems to cherish you more than expected. Do you feel it?"
"???"
When Yi-Han looked at him as if to say 'What nonsense', Antagondal laughed as if he could guess his inner thoughts.
"Kuhahaha! Right. A mage who threatens to kill you and tortures you with magic doesn't seem like a good master. But think about it this way. Has the master ever cut off your arms or shattered your bones? Like this."
"It seems like a matter of time."
"No. If you were a disciple he disliked, he would have cut off your arms or crushed your bones as soon as he met you. It's not a matter of time."
'Certainly.'
Yi-Han couldn't deny that there was some logic to the other party's words.
He had beaten Yi-Han much more gently than he beat Antagondal.
At first, Yi-Han thought he was being considerate because Yi-Han was a student and the other was an old magic criminal, but now that he thought about it, that mad doppelganger didn't seem like a mage who would be so considerate.
"He does cherish you. So you should be more careful. If you cause any unnecessary misunderstandings..."
Antagondal let out an ominous laugh from beyond his silver mask.
If he had a personal conversation with Yi-Han and was misunderstood as trying to steal or check the disciple?
At that time, even offering several lives wouldn't be enough.
"So the conversation ends here. Let's keep our distance! You learn magic from the master, and I steal magic from the master."
"Hmm. May I ask just one thing?"
"I'll consider it if it's not an intimate question."
"Actually, I was going to ask if I could go out for a bit as a reward for mastering 5th Circle magic..."
Antagondal started laughing.
It was a much more cheerful mockery than when he heard Yi-Han was destined to die.
As it seemed he would laugh all day if left like this, Yi-Han cut him off firmly.
"It seems that's impossible. I understand."
"I'm more surprised that you had such a thought. Does that mad doppelganger really feel like your master?"
"Well, you don't know until you try in life. Even professors who seem eccentric can have unexpected sides sometimes..."
Yi-Han was about to give examples of Einroguard professors but gave up as none particularly came to mind and continued speaking.
"...If that's not possible, I was thinking of going out using the rest period."
"Why are you trying to go out so urgently? How long has it been since you came here?"
Hearing those words, Yi-Han roughly estimated the time.
He couldn't know how much time had passed, but the weekend had probably ended and a new week was starting.
The later he went out, the more content and assignments Yi-Han would have to learn would increase exponentially.
'More terrifying and frightening than the mad doppelganger.'
"There are lectures I need to attend..."
"Indeed. Is that the reason? But for learning, wouldn't that master be not bad?"
At Antagondal's words, Yi-Han firmly denied.
"The level is too high for me to steal and learn. I want to receive lower level teachings."
"My thoughts are a bit different, but... Alright. If that's what you want, young one, do as you please."
This old magic criminal's only interest was in how much magic he could steal from the mad doppelganger.
Whether the Wardanaz family boy escaped or went to receive trivial level teachings was not Antagondal's business.
'Wait. Rest period?'
Antagondal suddenly hesitated.
Going out using the rest period.
What rest period was there?
"What do you mean by rest peri..."
"What are you doing?"
When the mad doppelganger entered the workshop like a ghost, Antagondal swallowed and tensed up.
As expected, the mad doppelganger had started to suspect Antagondal.
"I was praising the master's teachings."
Thud!
Despite the flattery, the mad doppelganger threw Antagondal against the wall.
"You're trying to ruin the work arbitrarily. Trash. Get lost."
Antagondal, embedded in the wall, humbly remained embedded instead of coming out.
Fortunately, the mad doppelganger turned his attention from Antagondal and called Yi-Han.
"You understood decently this time. Lowborn."
"Yes! Thank you!"
"Rewarding subordinates is also a royal's duty. Do you have anything you want?"
"...Is it possible to go out for a bit?"
"No."
"Then I would like to have a short rest period. I want to improve my skills by looking back at the magic I learned myself."
As he had already expected the refusal to go out, Yi-Han wasn't flustered and proposed again.
He needed a way to avoid the mad doppelganger's attention for now.
Only then could he escape or do whatever.
"No."
"..."
The words 'Then why did you ask' rose to Yi-Han's throat, but seeing Antagondal's toes embedded in the wall, his anger subsided.
"I'm happy just with the thought of giving me a reward!"
"It seems you've learned the mindset of a disciple just a little bit."
The mad doppelganger was slightly satisfied and gave a new order.
For those who learn magic, there was no such thing as rest.
There was only diligence and more diligence.
"Then prepare the next 5th Circle magic."
"..."
Before Yi-Han could say anything, the mad doppelganger said only what he wanted to say and disappeared carelessly.
"Are you alright?"
-Yes.-
Antagondal answered from inside the wall and pulled out his body.
This magic criminal seemed interested in whether Yi-Han could successfully prepare new 5th Circle magic like last time or not.
He was like a spectator curious about the life and death of a gladiator thrown into the arena.
But Yi-Han had no intention of satisfying the other party's curiosity at all.
"I need to escape."
"Do as you please."
"Please help me."
"Why should I?"
"If you don't help, I'll say you tried to seduce me into becoming a magic criminal."
"..."
Antagondal sincerely admired the boy before his eyes.
To think he could be so vicious at such a young age!
