Health & Project Check In
🕑 Added 2023-07-31 17:10:02 +0000 UTCHi all! I think I'm about due for an update now that I'm a full 3 months into my wrist pain recovery. I'll detail that and then go into how it's affected the projects. (tl;dr at bottom)
HEALTH --
Unfortunately the wrist pain is still here. Officially it is not carpal tunnel syndrome, but rather appears to be general damage from long-term repetitive use and poor posture. I've been seeing doctors, going to physical therapy twice a week, and soon I'm having my first medical procedure. A simple one, but that is what it's come to. I still can't hold anything, let alone a stylus for very long before pain begins, and this has affected nearly every facet of my life.
Currently the best news I have is that the kind of pain that aches all day unprompted seems to be drastically improving, which is fantastic for my mental state.
PROJECTS --
In what I feel is more bad news, the continued wrist pain has complicated Sheriff Hayseed to the point of being completely halted. Nor is any previously mentioned project being worked on.
Last time I said I would delegate the work to others but this largely hasn't happened. For that I apologize. It's far harder than it sounds to have people completely take over a project that relies heavily on my own technical skills in Toon Boom Harmony, and is also a very personal project to me. I have trouble explaining it but I can't fully pass it off to others, because a lot of why I'm making it is just for me. I love animating and it's why I do this.
I do intend to finish it of course, as well as continuing Mike & Zach and Suction Cup Man, but I'm now uncertain when this will be.
FORWARD FROM HERE --
Right now I'm talking with my team about NEW projects for them to create without me while I continue my recovery. These projects won't rely on me and will allow the team a LOT of creative freedom while I give input from the sidelines to make sure they're good and "piemationsy"
The first one they're doing is a new FNaF parody in the 5 AM at Freddy's series based on Security Breach. I wrote the script but now it's been handed to Crowne and Shady to handle ALL the rest. It's short and simple and will make for a good trial run.
I'm also considering more music videos and maybe another try at a podcast. Things that don't need me to draw. It's all a bit up in the air while my recovery continues. I wish I could lay out a more solid plan but this is simply the best I got for the time being.
TL;DR
- Wrists still hurt, somewhat better?? but can't draw
- Intensifying medical care
- Original projects delayed until wrists are better
- Commissioning others to make entire videos for us, mainly parodies and music videos probably
- Fnaf parody
- podcast maybe???
- ???!??!?!?

As sad as it is that your original projects are on hold. It is great to know that you're getting better. That's all that matters.
