Report of Progressage

I am cleaning up (and in some cases animating by hand) the motion capture data on Talia's 2nd animation. And I am -ROUGHLY- 1/3rd complete on that. That is not everything, not fingers or facial expressions... Just the stuff that you get from the raw motion capture data. I am pleased with her progress thus far.
On Talia's 1st animation, the rendering is on frame 4454. That is about 72% complete. Goddamn.
I was looking around on amazon and I saw that the fastest CPU I can get for my 'ol LGA2011 motherboard is an Intel Xenon 2690. It is $250 and based on benchmarking sites it would be about 69% faster than what I currently use. I think after I get Lightwave2020 I should set my sights on one of them. Don't forget LW2020 should also render somewhat faster but I doubt it will be anywhere close to 69% faster. We shall see when it comes out later today (right after monkeys fly out of my butt).
More to come.

Looks like the 12-core version on Tech buyer is more expensive than the one on Amazon.

Oh that one is 8 cores. The one I was looking at is 12 cores. Intel CPU BX80644E52690V3 Xeon E5-2690 v3

Okay thank you :)

I am seeing new Intel Xenon 2690s for $<120 from sites like TechBuyer and AliExpress. Also used ones for ~$30 on eBay. Amazon is definitely not the cheapest place to buy PC parts. Do a quick Google search. $250 is outrageously expensive for 10 year old tech. https://www.techbuyer.com/us/sr0l0-intel-xeon-processor-e5-2690-42802/ https://www.ebay.com/i/272873010502

In the long run, yes. But you're talking spending $250 vs a grand or two.

A motherboard from 2011?!?! Would you get more of a bang for your buck by upgrading the motherboard too?
