Hi Patrons,
This is another update on the animation's progress and other things I've been up to the past 2 weeks, including a secret project that I am unveiling to just Patrons and my team.
Story 0 Extra Minute
The ending animatic and credits sequence has been storyboarded and roughly timed. The updated running time for the whole animation is now eleven minutes. While working on the ending, I realized some scenes needed extra holds and cuts, resulting in about an additional 60 seconds of screen time. Therefore the overall project is now about 70% done (less than last time), even though we've completed several scenes. We'll have to play a little catch up to make up for the extra content, but it was necessary.
On the next Patron post I plan to reveal the release date!
Merch 2nd Pass
Kero came back to me with updated, colored versions of the new keychains, which $15 patrons will be receiving at least one of (once they're manufactured). They still have one more pass throughs before they're finalized, but they're coming along very nicely. Hell, Kero even printed a sample for a quality check! How thorough of her:
Gildedgaming VOD
Several weeks ago I participated in my friend Guitain's "Among Us - Animator Edition" gaming session. He has been busily putting together a highlight reel which will be releasing later today! There were a bunch of other notable online animators including Dillongoo, Telepurte, and Oxob. Please check it out, for I'm proud to say that I got a few kills.
Project GildedGala
"I've got a dream idea for a club penguin style gala for future premieres, where viewers not only can watch the Twitch stream, but on another tab, also explore a virtual red carpet event and buy fun interactions (food, drinks) for the purpose of fundraising the next project. Production team members would appear as NPC's selling their own customized e-foods, so that everyone can promote their channels. Community members could appear as a part of the 2D overworld venue."
Last year's premiere of Gildedguy vs Oxob was bizarrely crowded. Over 2500 viewers tuned in live to my Twitch stream, and with donations and subscriptions being thrown around everywhere, it nearly crashed my whole set up! I've been working ever since to upgrade my code to handle bursts of viewers like that, but I've always had this one really cool idea for what online premieres should feel like, and what they could be.
Hence why I've been coding away at my multiplayer GildedGala project, which you can actually try out now on my website.
Once again, this is a secret project, that I hope to one day reveal to the public for an animation premiere. It might be for Story 0! It all depends on my time and budget constraints. Server costs can get pricey (CCU = concurrent users):
I'm aware this development can take away from animation production resources, so if you have any concerns, please let me know. But I'd like to at least try this idea out once, because it can really enhance all future premiere experiences.
