Gallant being aware that something's really off about Greg via his emotion sense is a good way to add some tension. Plus, it shows that Greg is still overconfident and will rush to conclusions occasionally without the benefit of unlimited retries. Also, Dinah references in this chapter. Would be very fun if it's revealed she's manipulating events in some way, or even helping Greg because "That future is better"
