In North American deer shedding occurs during winter, since antlers are used for sparring during rut! Tufted deer are an Asian species and I believe their shedding times may differ since the climate is so different -- I actually couldn't find a definitive answer as to when they shed or whether or not they even shed on a yearly schedule. Apparently they're a pretty elusive species so there's a lot we still don't know about them :') ALL THAT TO SAY I'm making a lot of it up as I go so it's not necessarily accurate to IRL tufted deer, but Pen's antlers shed on a less regular schedule than some other species.
