Chapter 3: Six Years Later
🕑 Added 2025-04-12 03:57:43 +0000 UTC
The fusion of magic and swordsmanship is a quick way to improve combat effectiveness, and Menachel has such a talent. It took only six years for him to reach the level of Kai or Artoria, but his talent was limited to this. He still only half understood the swordsmanship of a knight.
Facing Menachel’s fierce attack, Merlin only retreated half a step, then raised the wooden stick in his hand slightly, and Menachel, who was hit in the chin, immediately flew backwards.
“So, Mr. Merlin, are you really a magician instead of a knight?”
Menachel covered his chin and lay on the ground, while Merlin raised the wooden stick in his hand and gently tapped Menachel’s head. He immediately felt that the fatigue in his body subsided a lot.
“Great, teacher, I want to learn this!”
Menachel immediately sat up from the ground, but because he spoke too hastily, he lay on the ground again with his chin covered.
“You can’t learn it.”
The key to using magic to strengthen the body is to control the magic, and the reason why Menachel can catch up with others’ ten-year training level in six years is because Menachel’s magic is too easy to control.
In other words, it is too little. Even with the nourishment of fantasy seeds, Menachel’s magic has no tendency to increase.
In Merlin’s words, this is a very rare situation. Because the human body’s magic will gradually grow with the development of the body, but Menachel seems to be born fixed.
“But since it is [that], it is also reasonable.”
“Although the strength has increased a lot, it is too impulsive.” Beside Merlin, the young knight called Kai slowly commented, and then he changed his tone to mock: “It’s closer to a reckless man than a knight. At least you know how to dodge.”
Merlin didn’t mean to care about the two little guys anymore. Training Kai and Menachel was just a side thing. The one who really needed training was Artoria.
“Your swordsmanship is just based on brute force, but a knight’s swordsmanship is much more sophisticated.”
When talking about the term knight, Kai even puffed out his chest proudly.
“Then please put on the knight armor you always boast about and have an all-out duel with teacher Merlin.” Menachel retorted nonchalantly.
Although Kai looks like a very fierce person, in fact, he is a person who loves to be lively, and Kai’s response to this is that he likes to quarrel with people. Of course, Menachel’s proposal could not be established, and Kai’s face turned red, because knight Kai did not have knight armor.
“That’s good, Menachel, you know, no one has ever been able to compete with me in quarreling.” But soon Kai refuted back without giving in. Teacher Merlin’s martial arts value is too high, Artoria is his adopted sister, and the only person who can quarrel with him is Menachel.
“So what? You are no longer my opponent.”
“Oh? You are so proud of winning a round against me. How many rounds have you lost to me before that?”
“This is the ninth time you have asked this question. That is the point of disagreement between you and me. Didn’t you notice? Since then, Mr. Merlin has never asked you to practice with me again.” Menachel was prepared for Kai’s classic question.
“Nonsense. That was just yesterday. How can you say it happened in the last era?” Kai had gradually recovered his state at this time, but his eyes had revealed his admiration for Menachel.
In Kai’s cognition, no one could fight him to the same extent as Menachel in quarreling. This might be his old enemy. However, although Menachel was the person Kai had seen who was closest to him in quarreling, he was the best in this aspect! Kai changed the subject: “In terms of martial arts, the gap between you and me is too big.”
“But even with such a huge gap, I still defeated you, which shows that the gap between you and me in other aspects is even greater.” At this time, Menachel had almost recovered. He stood up from the ground and got rid of the position where Kai was looking down at him.
“It seems that you have grown a lot. Six years ago, you were not so difficult.” Kai snorted but did not mean to admit defeat. He raised the wooden sword in his hand: “In this case, let’s have an all-out duel!”
But the strong-mouthed knight Kai had to face the bleak fact that he could no longer beat Menachel. No matter how exquisite his swordsmanship was, no matter how clever his positioning was, he would be quickly defeated by brute force and sprint.
“I’m sorry, Kai. Now is the dividing line between you and me.”
“Even if you defeat me, what can you do?” Kai also cooperated with Menachel and entered the role. He closed his eyes: “You can only last one round in the hands of Merlin who is attacking with all your strength.”
“And I——!” Kai’s eyes widened, making Menachel worry that the other party would stare out his eyes. Kai shouted in a hoarse voice: “Even if I don’t use the sword and stand there, I can still achieve the same results!”
Menachel’s face turned black. He had no way to refute Kai. Kai was also very smart. He only presented facts and did not make sense. He did not draw the conclusion that [Menachel who went all out = Kai who stood still].
Soon, the sound of fighting as the background stopped, and Merlin and Artoria also ended at this time. The petals wrapped up the tired girl on the ground, and Kai and Menachel also came back to their senses from the state of playing as if they had received an order.
But the confrontation between the two was not over. Kai glanced at Menachel.
[Look at you, you keep saying you want to protect Artoria, but now you can’t even beat her]
Menachel also received Kai’s eyes. Although he didn’t understand the huge information contained in it, it didn’t affect his communication with Kai.
[Look at you, you can’t even beat the sister you keep saying you want to protect]
Merlin cast his eyes on the two people who were fighting secretly, and finally stopped at Menachel, but before Kai was happy, he heard the old man say: “Kai, you will be responsible for hunting today.”
Kai didn’t refute, but just winked at Menachel proudly, and deliberately took out the knight’s sword from his bag with a slow movement. With his strength, he must bring a sword when hunting phantasmal species.
“Teacher Merlin, I want to go too.”
But Menachel immediately raised an objection, saying that the only time to fight with a real sword is when hunting.
“No, come over here and continue practicing.” It must be said that Merlin teaches students in accordance with their aptitude. After all, in terms of swordsmanship alone, Menachel is probably not much different from the knight apprentices who have just graduated.
