I'm liking the way this is starting off! I actually think what threw you off about season 1 is what I liked. Maybe because I don't get too deep into anime I just like that it was quick and to the point plot wise. My one criticism is that I thought we would learn more throughout the season and I feel like we ended with nearly the same amount of information that we started with so I'm hoping for some mysteries to be solved this season.
