Alyx Vance -- Half Life -- commission
🕑 Added 2024-06-15 16:05:35 +0000 UTCHere's a recent commission, featuring Alyx from Half Life!
I will admit, I have never played Half Life 2, or the VR Alyx game -- I played through most of the first game, if I recall correctly, but it was a long time ago. XD
I do like getting to draw different poses, so a basic standing shot was a nice change. I'm still trying to figure out how to balance the backgrounds with the figures -- I could spend a lot of time on background detailing to enrich the whole piece, but that ends up taking a lot of time overall, which could instead be spent on another piece. I am always getting reminded of just how anemic my technical knowledge is when it comes to art -- even basics like vanishing points and values are things that I stumble through on a daily basis. I get a lot of value from watching and working alongside detailed Youtube tutorials and lessons on these fundamentals, but I find it hard to pull myself away from commissions and Patreon work... Maybe it's something I need to work into my daily schedule, just a little bit each day, in order to reap the accrued rewards over time.
