Tryptic

There wasn't much snow in the heart of the Roman empire; the city Rome gets snow once every 10 years on average, and much of the empire was south of Rome. Even "flat" roofs are built with a little slant for rain...but it's true they would have needed a different answer for their European territories. The attitude of this legion would actually depend a lot on whether they were a Northern-deployed legion or a Southern-deployed legion for most of their history. It would be fun to see a southern legion encountering heavy snow for the first time.

Moses Lambert

"A flat roof provided a high ground for viewing the city as well as fortifications for defense." What dud Romans use for roof-drainage before gargoyles were thought of? Not just rain, which I'm presuming there must be lots of, given the forest, but what about snow accumulation?

Beeees!

Poor quintus, might have to go find that nearest river after all
