Schmitty, thank you! Drawing using only black is challenging because I canβt rely on different colors to show details. I have to use light and shadow to create variations and depth. If itβs too uniformly dark, the drawing can look flat and boring. plus black is never entirely black, there are subtle variations of other colors like green, brown, or even pink. Itβs not the desaturated black of a typical monochrome drawing.
