Outside of a Die Hard-type situation, playing a cop comes with too much baggage/paperwork/bureaucracy. And pretending that it doesn't, as BF: Hardline tries to do, makes things feel really, really weird.

Well if they were going to apply the real law to it all they would have to condense it down to a 5 min cut scene. There they could play out the right wrong thing and then put you back on the street.
