DMing Workshop: Unit 1, Chapter 1: Resonance
🕑 Added 2024-01-04 13:00:07 +0000 UTCI'm excited to announce a new series of monthly Patreon DMing skills workshops, beginning this Saturday.
Where the old series of workshops discussed ad-hoc topics submitted and voted on by patrons, this new format (as voted on by the members of the Patreon Discord) will take a more formal approach, moving sequentially through chapters of my forthcoming DMing textbook, The Dungeon Master's Handbook, while focusing live "classroom" time on hands-on activities, workshops, and case studies, rather than the "lecture" format that predominated old workshops.

Time: The Workshops event will open to attendees at 12:45 PM Eastern. Class will begin promptly at 1:00 PM. Please be on time if you wish to participate in the full workshop.
Handout: Please read the lesson handout here in advance of class to ensure you are prepared to participate.
Description: In this month's class, we'll discuss resonance: the first of the three pillars of good TTRPG design. By the end of this lesson, attendees will be able to distinguish resonant characters from non-resonant ones, outline and implement resonant characters, and create resonant characters corresponding to particular themes. Classroom activities will include multiple case studies, a roleplay exercise, and several collaborative character workshops in breakout rooms.
