When I want a thicker thread to sew up something hearty or use as a wrap, instead of embroidery thread, use crochet thread! Nice continuous length, multiple color options, several thicknesses but it's not made to split into smaller threads like embroidery floss.

Knitting comedian (yes, that is a thing) Stephanie Pearl McFee talks about the projects you do because you enjoy the process, and projects that you may hate making, but you really want the finished product. These wings are the latter. For all the projects in between, I like the term "grumpy fun." Just because you are making something for "entertainment" doesn't mean you don't curse your way through doing it.

Oh, and embroidery thread is meant to be divided - it comes with 6 strands, but you normally embroider with 2 or 3 strands. (I just learned this recently myself! )

Turned out great! I have recently learned how to solder and I been using it on more wire projects lately. Even on jewelry sometimes. I think it could of worked for these but I'm not really sure how it holds up on a big object like this.
