Edit: The original upload cut off early because of an upload bug I guess? Full video is here now, sorry for the hassle!
Hey Patrons,
We've not done one of these in a while so I took the time to answer as many questions as I could. There's also some doc announcements in the first few questions too so keep your ears open for those.
Thanks for all the questions!

$3k/m to focus on the quality of the work instead of spending your brain time chasing publisher tail? Surely we patrons can rise to this! Obligatory pet project shoutout: 90s RTSs - C&C / Total Annihilation. Who the hell other than you guys would even consider such a work!?

Hey Danny. Add revenue in itself is not my concern. Content specifically designed to maximise add revenue is. And that is why I have no concerns as long as your in control.

On the ads on Youtube thing - if you upload a version that _has_ ads, I will happily click it. I've got YT Premium, so it costs me nothing, and it's free money to you. Even if the process is the clunky "open on phone so it's in my history", that's not much extra effort to throw a bit more cash your direction.

Just a bit about that difficulty with the growth pipeline, maybe it’s because I’m a total sap but the moment I knew I was going to become a patron was when Danny got super emotional about the monkey island game on the goty pod. Passion was what did it for me

Make that cheese but watch your metrics. If people abandon the videos at the add break you could always rethink it. But monitizing old videos seems pretty harmless to me, especially if its minimal.

You and I have had the same feedback on ads: basically few negative responses, but very passionate when they do. I insert more ad breaks than others do, in logical spots, but if you're "raw dogging" the video and YT is being particularly frisky about presenting an ad at every single ad break, it can be a bad experience. I use premium so I don't see any ads and obviously I'm not opposed to people using ad blockers because I used them until I started monetizing my own content. That said, I have 24 patrons and make enough Patreon money to pay for food and most of my money comes from YouTube ad revenue at my size. So, I'll take the ads and everyone has options.

Though I understand Danny's thoughts on publishers and not making adjacent endorsement videos, I would like to see a video of the process of publishing games and the process studios/developers go through when publishing games. I don't know if you are doing that with the NoClip game dev series. And I think that could be a way to tie Dunkey and tying how marketing with game journalism craziness atm.

YouTube totally broke this upload and cut it off at the end. I've never seen that before. Gonna re-upload now.
