This is the most "Noclip" Noclip doc yet. Simply awesome. I don't think I've heard some of those 2097 sound effects for 20 years. What a magical time.

Leigh

Awesome vid guys. What a time to be alive and experience this fresh. Nothing like it.

Apropos of episode 180 of podcast, Danny- Chase the Sun by Planet Funk. Another banger that could fit in wipeout!

Graham Walker

Perfection

Noclip

That was me (danny) and I have zero regrets :D

RobToEarth

When Danny takes off his shades like the guy in CSI Miami and says "...there is no way of recapturing that moment in time...". Not only did that hit me in my middle aged nostalgia feels, but is a great statement that gets at the root of why many people seem upset with remakes of older games recently.

Keegan Zykowski

Pure happy coincidence the BlOps 6 trailer uses Firestarter as well, such a banger of a song!

Brandon Figueroa

Is Jeremy responsible for those transitions? Utterly shameless. Enjoyed the doc, as always.

Yes, I had physical discs of each version, and ripped the CD Audio (I was a massive Wipeout fan). I don't have the physical discs anymore because I moved from Europe to Latin America and left most physical media behind. You can see the tracklists in discogs or musicbrainz: - https://musicbrainz.org/release/c0c211f1-435f-4719-8e8d-787f4123b59b - https://musicbrainz.org/release/6c80c070-4a79-4019-a660-7502a9efd362 The saturn version of the original Wipeout also replaced the licensed tracks with three other tracks not by Cold Storage: - https://musicbrainz.org/release/9b64c2f7-adf7-4e7a-8e3b-3c4e95550657 I always assumed it was a licensing issue, but I was hoping you perhaps ran into more info while making this documentary :)

Noclip

Wow - really? Is this a CDDA issue because you need a CD Drive hooked up to your sound card to emulate the music properly? I assume any emulated versions don't have the licensed tracks in them. I looked around and haven't read this anywhere else - did you play them yourself?

Noclip

Thanks so much, it was fun to do something a bit more focused. Especially as I was happy enough talking about the broader elements of the game myself.

Noclip

I'm so sorry, haha

wisepotato

Danny there was no need to make me angry so early in the video. i am upset :(

N.R. Jenzen-Jones

This is awesome, guys. A small but perfectly formed documentary based around a great interview. Congratulations all round.

The Saturn and PC versions of Wipeout 2097 do not have any of the licensed tracks, and do have more tracks from Tim. Any idea how that came about?

Noclip

Yea I couldn't believe it when he told me he's barely written any dance music before 2097. Body in Motion is my favorite track in that game!

Chris Smout

Tim Wright is such a humble chap, what a legacy in music and sound effects. Body In Motion from the WipEout 2097 demo was the pulsing soundtrack of my Christmas 1997 as my dad, brother and I took turns running Gare D'Europa.

JonnLangan

The soundtrack of my uni years!! ๐Ÿ˜
