I’m late to this but just wanted to point out Mayuzumi’s problem isn’t that he has too little emotion but that he has too much. He was overwritten by Kuroko because of his pride; Kuroko in contrast is the “true” sixth man because he doesn’t let his emotions take over his rationality as they point out in the stands. He’s able to keep true to his purpose of ONLY supporting his team by keeping his emotions hidden on the court. Mayuzumi’s mistakes are because he got emotion and forgot his purpose. Being the 6th man requires that sacrifice on the court (something Akashi explained to Kuroko in the Teiko arc).
