Hokkaido's average summer temperatures is 24º C (75º F) - low temps around 20º C (68º F) with high temps around 28º C (82º F). Tokyo can range from 21º C (70º F) to 32º C (90º F). This also does not take into account the humidity, as Tokyo is much further south than where Furuya is from on Hokkaido. He is just not used the the changes in the weather.
