Upon hearing Zhou Tong's words, Ying Xuanzi's whole body trembled once more. Regardless of everything, Zhou Tong was his most cherished disciple. How could he bear to strike him down?
"Let me try," Xiao Tian said as he stepped forward. With a light swipe, Zhou Tong's black robe turned to ashes.
"What is this..."
When the black robe disintegrated, gasps of shock erupted around them. Beneath the robe, Zhou Tong had no flesh at all, only black bones. Strange black runes were densely wrapped around his bones, entwining like parasites, impossible to remove. In the center of the black bones, his internal organs still pulsated, all tainted black by demonic energy.
"Thump! Thump!"
A black heart beat continuously, exuding a sense of pure evil. Within this bizarre body, intricate veins carried silver light, the power of the Space Ancestral Symbol. Only these veins had escaped the corruption of the demonic energy, allowing Zhou Tong to use the Space Ancestral Symbol.
The black demonic runes interwoven in Zhou Tong's body faintly formed an extremely sinister demonic lock.
"Yuan Gate is so vile!" "They used demonic energy to corrupt Zhou Tong. Yuan Gate must be experimenting with Demons!"
Upon seeing Zhou Tong's condition, the hidden sect leaders also emerged. They were appalled by Yuan Gate's actions, as they understood the terror of the Demons.
Knowing the backstory, Xiao Tian recognized this as the Demon Emperor's Lock, created by the Demon Emperor himself. This lock had claimed countless Wheel-Turning Realm experts. However, this was an incomplete lock, and the Space Ancestral Symbol had protected Zhou Tong's soul from complete demonic corruption.
Ying Xuanzi anxiously looked at Xiao Tian, asking, "Can Zhou Tong be saved?"
Xiao Tian replied, "Senior Brother Zhou Tong is trapped by the Demon Emperor's Lock. Even a Wheel-Turning Realm expert would be controlled by it. We must destroy his demonic body to free his soul."
Ying Xuanzi thought for a moment and said, "Then let's destroy his demonic body."
"Alright!"
Everyone responded and unleashed a torrent of energy upon Zhou Tong's body. The black bones began to crack under the immense power, releasing thick, evil demonic energy, which was swiftly neutralized by the ancient array's power.
"Bang!"
As the black bones shattered completely, a silver light flashed out.
"Swish!"
Xiao Tian's Devouring Ancestral Symbol absorbed the energy, and he grabbed the silver light. Opening his hand, a silver gleam with an ancient aura was revealed—the Space Ancestral Symbol. Within the silver light, a faint golden glow, Zhou Tong's remaining soul, could be seen.
"Thank you, Junior Brother Xiao Tian, for freeing me," Zhou Tong said. "The Space Ancestral Symbol protected me, but the demonic energy corrupted me. The Ancestral Symbol belongs to the heavens, and I am no longer worthy of it. You, with the Devouring Ancestral Symbol, will make better use of it."
With that, Zhou Tong's soul left the Space Ancestral Symbol. Without its protection, his already weak soul began to dissipate.
"Thank you, Senior Brother Zhou Tong. I will help you recover," Xiao Tian said, producing a golden fruit the size of a fist. This fruit, resembling a baby, emitted a faint fragrance that stirred the soul.
Xiao Tian explained, "This is a Soul Infant Fruit. It can replenish the soul's essence. With it, your soul will soon return to its peak."
"What a miraculous treasure!" Ying Xuanzi exclaimed with joy.
"Thank you, Junior Brother Xiao Tian," Zhou Tong said, also delighted.
Xiao Tian shook his head, "I should be thanking you. The Space Ancestral Symbol is far more valuable."
Old Ghost Qian interjected, "Enough, let's deal with Yuan Gate now."
"Yuan Gate?" Ying Xuanzi's voice turned cold. "Yuan Gate colluded with Demons and harmed my disciples. We must destroy them!"
With that, he led the group to Yuan Gate.
...
At Yuan Gate, chaos reigned as the life plaques of the two Sect Masters shattered. Many Yuan Gate members were looting treasures, preparing to abandon the sect.
"Boom!"
A powerful attack shattered the sect-protecting array. Several formidable figures appeared above Yuan Gate, scanning the surroundings. They spared the ordinary disciples but killed anyone who had harmed Dao Sect members. All Yuan Gate elders were on the death list.
"If we die, we'll take you with us!" The Yuan Gate Great Elder, seeing the imminent destruction of his sect, activated an evil formation.
"Rumble!"
The ground beneath Yuan Gate cracked open, releasing an overwhelming flood of black demonic energy that began to corrode the land. From the fissures emerged countless demonic shadows, resembling beasts, exuding an intense evil aura.
"What are those?" "Demons! Yuan Gate really did collude with Demons!" "So many demonic corpses—Yuan Gate was up to no good!"
The sight shocked everyone, including the sect leaders who had been observing secretly. They were horrified by Yuan Gate's actions, knowing the Demons were the common enemy of all life.
"Old friends of Dao Sect, let me help you!" Elder Tian Kui shouted, joining the battle. While fighting the demonic corpses, he also covertly gathered treasures.
"Ying Xuanzi, I'll help too!" "Defending the Dao is our duty!"
Seeing this, others joined in. Ying Xuanzi didn't mind their help as long as they didn't take the best items. With so many experts attacking, Yuan Gate was completely destroyed. The demonic corpses, without control, fell where they stood, their demonic energy tainting the land.
The once-pristine Yuan Gate became a wasteland, and the remaining super sect experts set up an array to prevent anyone from being corrupted by the demonic energy.
