Gunnerkrigg at Dark Horse!
🕑 Added 2023-10-24 17:35:05 +0000 UTCI can finally talk about the fact that the early volumes of Gunnerkrigg are going to be printed by Dark Horse! Those that saw the announcement might have also seen that it mentioned something about "newly updated art" and had some questions about that.
I took this opportunity to go back to the beginning of the comic and fix up a few things that I felt were a barrier for entry for new readers. Back when I started I had a vision in mind that I just was not able to achieve given my skill level. This is mainly exemplified in how I drew Annie, really.
The changes I'm making are really minor and will not change the look of the comic. It's just a few lines here and there that I felt brought things closer to what I thought I was doing at the time.
Here on Patreon I'm going to be showing the updated pages along side their originals so people can see the kinds of changes I'm making.
I'm hoping to share more of the process of bringing the early volumes back to print with you all!

Will the previous volumes have hardcover editions, or just softcover? Also hope that the continuing volumes will have hardcovers of a similar size to the Archaia volumes, but I'll be pre-ordering them regardless.

I'm excited to have a new volume coming out of the continuing story. Will these be a different size from the old Archaia volumes? I thought those A5-sized books are beautiful and lovely objects themselves (and, of course, will it change the lines on my bookshelf!?)

This is exciting news & I’m so happy for you. I can’t wait to see the updates. Way back when the first books were printed, I bought them for my 7yo, a very reluctant reader. She really loved them (loves them still, as a 22yo) and I know for a fact that Annie & the gang turned her into an enthusiastic reader. Now my youngest is 7, and although he’s a much more of a reader than his elder sibling was, I still can’t wait to buy the new books for him. Thank you for creating this world and sharing it with us all.
