But then, there was one other person, as evidenced by the knock on the door that drew her attention away from the paperwork on her desk, “Come in.”
The doorknob turned and in walked the person largely responsible for the success of their recent undertakings, “You wanted to see me, boss.” His dark hair was cut short at the sides. The lightning bolt scar that had made him famous was barely visible unless caught in just the right light. He still wore a pair of round-rimmed glasses, but a few simple spells meant he wouldn’t be losing them in any duels. He’d been equal parts grateful and shocked when he was told about them.
Harry Potter was the savior of magical Britian and perhaps all of Europe and beyond. She sincerely doubted that Voldemort’s ambitions would’ve stopped at one little island in western Europe. He was the best Auror recruit that she’d had the pleasure of adding to the force in all her time as Head. Which really is rather impressive considering the success of Tonks and Shacklebolt.
More than anything, she had to appreciate his unwavering dedication to following every order she gave. Considering she’d heard plenty about his exploits while at Hogwarts thanks to her niece, it was rather surprising to Amelia.
Honestly, she was harder on him than any of the others. It wasn’t often that the Head of the DMLE took an active hand in the training of a single Auror recruit, but there were extenuating circumstances. His approval in the program was seen by some of the veterans as favoritism meant only to gain public approval.
There were still quiet whispers of favoritism from some of her staunchest detractors in the department, but her tutelage and his dedication had gone a long way to quiet many of those voices.
And as far as she was concerned, it was the least she owed the young man. Very few people knew he’d saved her life. Not directly as he had with many others over the years, but by warning her of an impending attack on her home after Voldemort’s rebirth had become public knowledge. He’d been intent on killing his biggest threats within the Ministry and she was rather proud to be counted at the top of the list. Not that it stopped him from taking over in the end.
She’d managed to survive the takeover of the Ministry while Scrimgeour hadn’t been so lucky. When things were set to rights, she still had no interest in the position of Minister and happily threw her support behind her former subordinate, Shacklebolt.
“Right, Potter, come in.” She gestured to the seat in front of her desk. As she watched him make his way over, she had to admit, if only to herself, that there was more than just gratitude that led her to take a vested interest in Harry’s tutelage. It would be fair to think that it was to maintain the image of the Department, to ensure that they were best able to use him as a way to rebuild public trust.
But no, the truth was far simpler than that. He’s one fit bloke, and easier on the eyes than anyone else I’ve ever trained. It made her question her niece’s sanity that in all the stories that she’d heard about her time at Hogwarts, many of which included the fantastical exploits of the young man in front of her, that she’d never even hinted at fancying him.

It was just another thing that made him so terribly appealing.
Bringing her elbows to her desk, Amelia leaned against it. The subtle movement framed her, even by her estimation, incredible rack wonderfully on the edge of the desk. Her blouse just happened to be one button looser than usual, and from the way Harry’s eyes lingered just a moment longer than he meant them to, he appreciated the view, “Yes, you were. But it was a job done quite exceptionally.”
“It’s a credit to my instructor.” Harry offered her praise right back.
“Ah, I’d say you were trying to flatter me, but you’re probably right.” They shared a laugh, and she caught his eyes dipping down to her soft valley as she deliberately let them jiggle.

I try to provide the best experience I can manage, and I know that there are times where I succeed in that endeavor better than others. I'll freely admit, like any writer, I have moments where certain stories and ideas are more complete and complex in their construction than others, and not every story comes as easily to me as another, but I always try to ensure that they are both enjoyable and 'coherent', as you put it. I do the polls, to provide variety away from the ongoing stories. If that's something that readers don't enjoy, or would prefer to be tweaked, I'm happy to have that conversation, but I've never had any complaints about it. Regardless, I appreciate the feedback, and I hope, if you decide to continue your membership, that you enjoy the next release.
