NEW EPISODE: Our Expedition to Wasteland Weekend, the Real-Life Videogame
🕑 Added 2023-11-21 15:14:25 +0000 UTCAnd now for something totally different!
At the very end of September, Quinns and Chris traveled to the Mojave Desert to roleplay the end of the world with FOUR THOUSAND other people at Wasteland Weekend.
It was, in many ways, like playing a post-apocalyptic video game in real-life, with all its costumes, characters, factions and quests. But over our four days at the event, we discovered something much more important than all of that, hidden away behind the skulls, spikes and replica firearms. There was a community here quite unlike anything either of us had ever experienced beforehand. We are so excited to share it with you.
Now this video is, erm, a bit of an experiment for us.
In order to attend the event, we both needed to become characters ourselves and fully embrace the world in which we were visiting. And you'll get to see us do that here in what we think is one of our most entertaining documentaries we've ever worked on. Hopefully, you'll think so too.

This was an excellent video - I appreciate y'all taking a risk on the content and format. Really inspiring to see such love found in community.

You guys have made a lot of fantastic content, but never before have I been so awed, excited, engrossed, and just so gosh-darn proud to be able to support you doing it. Clearly the spirit of Hunter S Thompson lives on!

this is awesome! it reminds me a little bit of the witcher academy that became popular with the games some years ago.

Awesome video! I hope Chris is fine, funny story aside, the idea of getting metal poisoning from LARP makeup is utterly terrifying. Thanks for taking us to weird awesome places!
Brendan McLeod
Outstanding.

This was great. After this hope-shattering week/month/year, it's such a welcome reminder that some communities still try to infuse good in the world. Thank you!

Chris took the chance to become a new persona only to turn into... a journalist :P Great video, as always.

Amazing video! This looked like so much fun (minus the zinc poisoning).

Huzzah! If ever a needed a distraction from the *stark existential music plays over the sound of civil defense sirens as I give a thousand yard stare* it's now! Can't wait to watch this on the bus ride home.
