Monthly Update: Two new characters rigged and implemented!
🕑 Added 2024-08-09 07:19:00 +0000 UTCLast month results was fairly light due to a planned family trip to New York for a week, and then right after I got sick ๐ฉ.
Regardless the work needed last month was still quite a bit.
Alex and Danni Rigged!
Both Alex and Danni are now rigged and ready to use! While I do use an auto rigging solution to speed up the process, it still takes a while due to skinning needs, and other adjustments. And hair...my god the hair. I forgot about bad hair can be.
Maybe that becomes one of those things I want to get out of the way sooner than later for Naomi.
Regardless the work is done. The only thing needed is some cloth and physics stuff on Danni, and then finalizing the way she loads in the game.
Jackson is also planned to have a model, but again mainly cause they make a frequent appearance not NSFW purposes (Unless people want that? If so it probably won't come from me directly). I'm not sure about Martin yet. Maybe not for now, then we'll add him later.
Reminder Alex is Subscribe Star exclusive and not related to Our Apartment. BUT that doesn't mean some fantasy scenes and works won't be made mixing the two. I really do need some content variety after all... But if/when that content is made it will be on subscribe star only, and maybe some other sites. I may post some occasional SFW images of Alex here otherwise tho.
Danni while not intended to be used for scenes in game will get her own images and animations in time. She's more well-endowed, so that won't be a problem on Patreon. The problem there is a bit technical (big bewbs), not sure if I can make it look right. It might require some investment I don't immediately have time for.
Focusing on function!
I'm back to focusing on function, so some visual issues will sit on the wayside for a bit (unless I can't help myself, like with the below thing...).
A certain issue is one major feature I wanted to use VFX graph is not currently supported on mobile phones. It COULD be supported, but the problem is many android phones lack compute shader support. This is not a new feature on phones, it's just some phone suck and manufactures release the phone without the needed features on the GPU.
Unity avoided support because of this issue, but now it seems they're trying to force phone manufactures hand. When this support comes, I can focus on implementing the new cum effects and such. For now, it's probably gonna be a visual mess. Depends on if I can fix some shaders.
My main focus is getting the stats functionality back, getting the full progression in order, and working on what content is unlocked when. Then moving on to sex sim improvements, implementing gropes (at least functionally) across all positions. There's also the issue of camera controls and other input options that need proper implementation (and configuration).
I think I want the game in a fully functional state before I do any more visuals and effects work.
I may be hiring some people to help with this stuff this month.
There will still likely be new outfit item previews and animation previews this month tho.
About the lack of release
There's still some issues with Unity 6 as it is a preview version, there's some performance issues due to bugs. Like for example I might bake the APV lighting, then reload unity and suddenly baked lights become real lights. Casting unused shadows, and lighting objects that should only have baked lights.
There's a series of lighting improvements I want to do but I'm holding off on until some things get fixed.
Some issues like this make a build a bit of a problem, little random stuff. I'm filing bug reports to help these issues. Additionally, I really want to restore functionality. I don't like people getting lesser builds.
I do plan for a build by the end of this month though, I'm not 100% sure if it will be available to all tiers, it depends on the state of all the function I'm trying to get in. I don't have any real personal plans this month, I just have work to do.
Conclusion
Sorry, this is a light update, I hope next update is more interesting. We haven't really talked about sex sim and game functionality for a while. And it's time that gets resolved.
