Balmy, scented winds will after
Us, adown the valley blow
Haunting echoes of our laughter.
So we’ll walk the Way-of-Life,
You and I, Love, both together,
Storm or sunshine, happy we
If be foul or fair the weather.
– from a poem by Carrie Williams Clifford (1862–1934)
I feel the most important relationship we have in life is the one we have with our own self. Once we learn to enjoy our own company, life’s storms don’t seem to erode us as much.
