Chapter 26 We Will Meet on the Moon
🕑 Added 2025-08-31 14:18:11 +0000 UTCJust when everyone was moved to tears by the story of John and River, an accident happened.
"I think... we should know what to do to send him to the moon by now."
The female doctor suddenly said.
Are they planning to implant false memories in John so that he and River can reunite the following year?
Sirin cried and waited.
Even if the memory is false, it seems nice to let old John pass away quietly in a sweet dream.
However, the subsequent plot developments surprised her.
"Wait a minute, you don't really want to do this...you don't!"
The male doctor's response made everyone's heart skip a beat.
"This is our job, Neil. Our contract requires us to send old John to the moon."
The female doctor looked so cold and indifferent at this moment. She only said lightly: "And the only way to make it a reality... is that John has the motivation to go to the moon."
Hearing this, the male doctor got angry for the first time: "If this means that River must be removed, then what's the point of all this!! The very reason he wanted to go to the moon was because she died, River died! Do you understand?!!"
Wait, what are they talking about?
Remove River from old John's memory?
Who to remove?
Sirin thought that her tears blurred her vision and caused her to see things wrong, so she quickly wiped her eyes with her sleeve which was already soaked in a large area.
However, after she read the words clearly and confirmed them again and again, a surge of blood rushed to her head, causing her to burst out in anger and shout, "What on earth does this bastard mean?!!!"
After all, Sirin is not very good at swearing, so compared to her light words, the barrage is much richer.
[WDNMD, John doesn't want to go to the moon at all, he wants to go to River! ! Are you blind? ! ! ]
[Is this woman sick? Ah? Is this human language? I am so **********]
[Contract, contract, contract, what a bull demon, I am still thinking about the contract, pure ******]
【&%&&*&&%#@#! ! ! ! 】
If barrage comments could make sounds, I guess there would be "beep beep beep" sounds everywhere now.
Everyone was so moved that tears welled up in their eyes. Not only did this woman not help, she also planned to delete River? !
In the plot, even though the male doctor argued for a long time, the female doctor who was his superior remained unmoved. According to her, if John could not go to the moon, they would be sued.
Intellectually, they understand what the female doctor said, but that does not stop them from venting their anger using all kinds of blocked words!
At this moment, the dream on the screen began to shake violently, and even the colors flickered. The two doctors understood that John's life was about to come to an end.
Seeing that she couldn't convince the other party, the female doctor used her higher level authority to forcibly leave, and trapped the male doctor, blocking his power to interfere with dreams.
The background music quietly changed, and for the first time, human voices appeared.
The female voice that sounded like a sad whisper turned into a hand that gripped everyone's heart. They could only watch River's figure disappear from John's life little by little.
In the empty corridor, John and his friends gathered and ran happily towards the restaurant, but here, the girl he cared about was lost.
In the cinema, John and his friends sat together, watching the latest movie that interested them, and the girl who had been by his side, along with the platypus in her arms, slowly disappeared from the screen.
In the spacious horse farm, John's happy shouts were no longer heard. After all, without River, what was the point of riding a horse? He didn't need to rely on riding to relieve his autism.
Then in class, when the teacher asked everyone about their future wishes, John finally said the noun.
"astronaut."
At this point, John's future was completely changed.
The clips that once touched everyone were shown one by one, and then John and River above slowly disappeared.
John, lost River.
They were no longer able to care about anger; helplessness and sadness filled their hearts. They watched this scene but could do nothing.
In contrast, his brother Joey did not die in the car accident. With his brother's encouragement, he embarked on the path of becoming an astronaut.
Watch him train hard, send out his resume, receive a reply, and then successfully enter the Anti-Entropy Space Agency.
This scene gave everyone mixed feelings. It seemed that John was really going to realize his dream of going to the moon. However, was there any point in going to the moon now?
The girl who was supposed to be waiting for him on the moon is long gone.
After joining NASA, John continued to work hard. He trained hard every day. Within a few years, he was promoted to an official astronaut.
"Is this how it's going to end?"
This extremely smooth scene made Sirin purse her lips. John has become an astronaut. After that, it will be difficult for any accidents to happen...
But, will accidents really never happen? Can John's unforgettable love for River really be erased simply by deleting River's figure?
Even though he lost his memory, he never forgot to go to the moon. What a deep feeling.
Just when John was called by his superior to meet with aerospace experts, the sound of a strong heartbeat reached everyone's ears.
This is John's heart. This is his desperate resistance to the possibility of losing River!
"what happened?!"
Just as the two doctors were panicking and confused, they saw the mechanical door of the room was opened.
"Oh, by the way, we have hired a new person this time." John's superior looked at the door and said to John with a smile.
This scene made Sirin forget her sorrow and she held her breath quietly.
Could it be that...
Her long orange hair was tied into a ponytail, and she walked towards John step by step, following the slowly rising sound of the piano.
Crossing time, crossing memories, crossing all difficulties and obstacles, the two finally met at this moment.
"Hi, I'm John."
First meeting, just like before.
"Wait, what's going on, you, what are you doing..."
The male doctor widened his eyes in shock when he saw this scene, and he asked the female doctor with some stammering.
"I didn't delete River, I just moved her away, so what choice she will make will still depend on her."
Looking at the scene of reunion, the female doctor finally smiled: "This new world is composed of public data and John's personal beliefs. River is naturally an independent individual."
"But all this only increases the possibility slightly. How did you do it?"
"I'm not sure."
The female doctor shook her head, then she looked at John and River: "I just tried to believe John once, and he didn't let me down, didn't he?"
She walked towards the male doctor and continued in a relaxed tone, "Don't we still have two spare helmets? I think John will not mind having two old friends in his last dream, right?"
[I'm sorry, Doctor. I admit that my voice was a little loud just now...]
[Doctor, you know that I have always believed in you.]
[The guy above, you were the one who cursed the loudest just now! ]
[It turns out that the Doctor is the one who believes in this love the most...]
The screen was covered with the word "I'm sorry" and Sirin's vision was blurred again.
Damn it, why do I feel like I’ve been crying all day today? She wiped her tears, smiled and cursed in her heart.
The female doctor's operation completely separated the two untouchable hearts, but it also made their reintegration possible. Even if the chance was small, she believed that John's persistent and burning love could turn into light and illuminate River again.
The male doctor wanted to break the contract, but wasn’t her behavior just as crazy?
Fortunately, she succeeded and River returned to John.
"What is this piece of music?"
In the music room, John played the piano piece he had composed for River, while River listened quietly in the audience.
TO THE MOON
The passerby replied.
“I like this name.”
Completely different from their previous answers, their hearts will touch again and become indistinguishable from each other.
At the space agency, they met again, got to know each other, and watched John play the song for River day after day for years.
Then......
After the launch command was given, the engine of the manned rocket started up. A thick orange-red flame was accompanied by a roar that resounded through the sky. John and River rode on it, slowly rising into the sky, and headed together in the direction where they had agreed to meet.
Drop-drop-drop-drop
A long, slow, sharp sound reached the audience's ears at this time, accompanied by the flashing red color on the screen, making everyone understand something.
Old John can't hold on any longer.
The fluctuations on the electrocardiograph began to calm down, and the previous scenes flashed across the screen like a kaleidoscope.
River and John sat side by side in the rocket cabin. They had now left the earth and reached the universe. This time, they no longer had to look up, because the stars that once filled the sky were now with them.
Drop-drop-drop-drop
The intervals between the sounds became longer and longer, and everyone's heart was lifted up at this moment. For a moment, they even forgot to breathe.
John in the dream seemed to sense something, and he looked around uneasily.
At this moment, River looked at John and reached out to him for the first time.
When John saw this scene, he suddenly calmed down.
The two smiled at each other and held each other's fingers.
At this moment, the two lighthouses, which had been separated for decades, warmed each other again.
There is no more gap between the two hearts.
drop------------
A long, shrill whistle brought it all to an end, and on the rocket's display, the silhouette of the moon slowly appeared.
Then, everything was in darkness.
Then, soothing piano music slowly sounded, and River and John became children again.
They came to the silvery-white moon and sat side by side on the tree trunk they once sat on, just like when they first met. River held the platypus in his arms. They pointed to the sky happily and told each other the promise they had made.
He was lost, but it was just like he said.
"We'll meet on the moon someday, silly!"
(THE END)
Sirin couldn't hold it in any longer and burst into tears on the table.
